This probably would be a question for those who are in the program right now - I was wondering when exactly does the phase 1 end and phase 2 begin and is there are break between the two. Also, what are the location options for phase 3 (after graduation) and for how long would one stay at one site (after graduating) ?

Does anyone know how the schools (for dependents) work when someone is active duty? Particularly, i'm interested in high schools. i found one relatively good public high school but it's pretty far from the base if we want to live in it's zone. Other good schools appear to be magnet or charter and don't have zones. There's also a school on Randolph AFB but i'm not sure whether one has to live on the base or be in AF for the kids to attend. Any advice would be appreciated.

You can provide a third reference (e.g. someone from work) just to submit your application and after your phase 2 interview add the name of your phase 2 director. I believe you can submit additional names after submitting application. I had a total of 4 references also- the 4th one was from phase 2 director.

I have until October 1st to confirm that I want to take the seat in the program starting next year. Once I do they will start the commissioning process... although I must say I don't know exactly what that entails and how long it will take given that it's so early. The good part is I have plenty of time to get my ducks in the row for the next year.

I had a great recruiter who went above and beyond to help me with everything. I started application in early January and had my interview in April. I submitted my application to NEU in May. My army application was submitted to board in late June. I was told once I have acceptance letter from NEU and accept the seat I can be commissioned... that's the next step :)

I'm in! I got my acceptance letter from NEU the other day. I was also told by my recruiter that I have been selected by the army board. The only thing left is accept the seat and get the paperwork signed. As someone with no prior military experience I must say it's exciting and overwhelming at the same time... I can't wait to get started with the school and learning about anesthesia, but the military life will be a huge adjustment. I'm sure it will be worth it though. :)

My understanding was that we have to have 3 letters (completed via email/ online) for the NEU (exactly as listed above) and additional 5 letters (hardcopy, printed on letterhead) for the Army application. So a total of 8 recommendations.

I am direct accession also. I first meet with my recruiter and started my army application in early January 2017, went to MEPS in early February, had my phase 2 interview in mid- April and submitted my Norheastern application in late April. My army accession application has been submitted to board in June. If you're applying for admission in 2018 you should absolutely be in the process working on your army application. It sounds like your recruiter may not be familiar with the process. It is not true at all that you have to submit your NEU application before starting on your army application. In fact there's so much paperwork involved with the army application that at this point you should be starting ASAP. Good luck.

Congrats on passing the physical. Good luck in your phase 2 interview. I had mine at Fort Gordon, GA and thoroughly enjoyed ever minute of it. I was very impressed with the culture, mutual respect, courtesy and cooperation amongst all staff. The SRNAs I shadowed worked REALLY, REALLY HARD but had superb skills and knowledge. All the instructors were amazing, very knowledgeable, extremely professional and helpful and seemed to really care about the success of each student. The interview itself was pretty "in-depth" but rather informal... mostly they just wanted to make sure that I realize how challenging this program is and how much commitment is required to make through it.

Thanks for the reply and shedding some light on DCC/pre-BOLC. My healthcare recruiter mentioned Fort Sill but I had no idea what he was talking about... :) Can we choose whether to do the DCC and BOLC prior to starting at USAGPAN or after graduation?

Thanks for providing the info and congrats on starting the program. I was wondering when did you find out about being accepted to the program. Also, once accepted, what is the process with the BOLC and pre-BOLC, ie what's the location, the length and exactly what did you do/learn during that time. Again, thanks!

You're right, the army Motivation statement should be up to one page. The NU does not specify the length or the formatting of the statement so mine was approx 1.75 pages, font 12 with 1.5 spacing between lines. Both my statements were very similar. I focused more on the anesthesia as a career for the NU and more on the military and service for the Army statement.

I'm pretty much done with my application. Now the wait begins. I hope to make early June board... and then hear from Northeastern... sounds like it will be a long summer :)

I am in the process of applying to USAGPAN-NEU for program starting in 2018. I will have my phase 2 interview in a couple of weeks and the only missing part on NEU application is letters of recommendation. I have a few questions regarding NEU application and would greatly appreciate any information. 1) I was told that once the application to NEU is submitted nothing can be changed. Is that true? If so does it mean I can't add any classes or new certifications I may obtain between now and the deadline (Sept.1st) ? 2) if i submit now, is there any chance I may find out if I have been accepted early? 3) can I submit my application prior to phase 2 interview? if so does the system allow me to skip one (of 3) names of recommendation providers? 3) what is the format for NEU letters of recommendation? e.g. online survey, formal letter? 4) any advice what information the letters should include? e.g. learning capacity, experience, etc... and who would be the best to provide such information? e.g. academic professor, manager, nurse colleague? Also, my phase 2 interview is in Augusta, Ga ... if anyone would care to give any advice on how to prepare for it or anything else, again, I would very much appreciate it. Thanks!

I really don't know what the right timing is... it seems like it all depends on the recruiter's preference. I have read some bad things about recruiters here but mine has been extremely helpful with everything so far. Also I just figured the earlier the better... this way if something pops out along the way there's time to sort it out. I already done MEPS and the CV review which was approved. I'm working on the required 5 letters of recommendation for the army and waiting to hear about the dates for phase 2 interview (hopefully in april). I also need to finish up my Northeastern application. I've already done CCRN and GRE and have organic chem 1. I'm thinking about doing CMC and CSC certifications and maybe biochem or organic 2 this summer. I have also been strongly advised to find a CRNA to shadow.

I too am applying to the program beginning in 2018. I'm almost done with my Army application and waiting to hear about the phase 2 interview dates. I'm probably a bit early but my healthcare recruiter has really been pushing me to complete it all very early... which works for me as it gives me more time to plan ahead. I'm working on completing my school application - have to submit the references and the personal statement. Does anyone know if the references/ recommendations are in the form of an online survey or a formal letter?
