  1. I think you may be right. Better safe than sorry right? Thank you!
  2. Wow! Thank you so much for taking the time to give us future nursing program students this advice!! I start the program in January and I'm super scared of everything we're going to have to learn in the smallest amount of time!! I'm definitely going to have to pick up the memory book you recommended. Thanks again and best of luck to you!
  3. I see there's a lot of good advice on here already so I won't give much impute since it's pretty much in line with what everyone has already said. However, I just wanted to express my condolences for what you are going through. How horrible!!! And I'm so sorry for what these people are doing to you!! However, you must be doing something right if these people are so hell-bent on knocking you down. But you're right it's almost over, so just remember that these people will not make or break your success...unless you let them. But I have a feeling you won't because you're pretty strong (and brave) so you'll go on to have great success!! Best of luck to you!!
  4. I'm not sure of the rules in TX but here in Utah I work for a home health company that accepts people with MA certs and send them out to homes as CNA's. Not sure if it's just something my company does or if it's all of Utah but maybe it wouldn't hurt to call some of these home health agencies who are always looking for people to work and just ask if they would take your MA cert. If they do that could give you some experience you can use on your resume. Good luck!
  5. Hello all! I'm new to this so please bear with me if I make any mistakes while trying to post this:-) I'm currently in the state of Utah about to start the nursing program in January 2016, but plan to return to California when I'm done. I have a couple of questions I'm unsure about, and I can NEVER get through to anyone when I call the CA licensing dept to ask them. So I'm hoping someone here might know one or both answers to my questions or at least know where I can look for the answer. My school doesn't require micro biology or its lab as a pre-req for the ADN or BSN degree so my first question is: Will I need to have this pre-req to get licensed in CA even after I graduate an obtain my degree? Second, I read online that it takes way longer to get a CA license if you are licensed somewhere else versus applying for a CA license without ever being licensed with any other state, which is a faster process according to what I read. Now I don't know if it's true or not but my actual question is this: Can I apply for a CA license after I take and pass my NCLEX in Utah, but at the same time apply for a UT license? So essentially I'd be applying for both at the same time. The reason why I still need my UT license although I plan on returning to CA is because I plan on getting my BSN right after I'm done with the ADN program. So that means I need to be a licensed RN in the state of UT to be in the BSN program. Any leads will be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!
