Took California NCLEX-RN Exam Aug 23, still waiting for official results
So for those of you who may be reading this, I got my results today - I passed and am now an RN! I called the BRN in the morning, let them know that Pearson had in fact sent the results the same day I took the exam. I was then told to check back with them in 3-5 days as she was sending my file to licensing to manually process whatever aspects of my file were preventing the Pearson results from being processed. I honestly didn't expect to hear back from them this soon but am so thankful that everything has been processed. Thankfully the person I spoke with at the BRN was willing to do some work to help me out.

results on hold. Wonderful.
Are you still waiting? I took mine in California on the 23rd. I think there is some sort of problem because Pearson says they sent the results the same day and the BRN says they are still waiting for the results as of yesterday. So I am in some sort of weird limbo. I did do the PVT 4 different times, with the most recent on Monday. It shut off at 75 questions. I felt it was difficult with only 2 softball questions, about 23 SATAs, 3 put in the correct order, 1 ECG, and the rest were multiple choice. BRN basically told me to keep checking the website for the next 2+ weeks; very unhelpful considering that I interviewed this week and may have a pending job offer as they were asking me to send in my RN license as soon as the BRN releases it.

Took California NCLEX-RN Exam Aug 23, still waiting for official results
So hear is my story. I took the CA NCLEX in San Dimas on August 23rd. It shut off at 75. I had some 23 SATAs, an ECG, 3 select the correct order, and the rest was multiple choice. I felt like there were only 2 softball questions and when I hit those I got nervous that I wasn't doing well but then got up to a multiple choice and more SATAs. California does not participate in quick results so that is out of the question. I did the PVT once after about 5 hours, again at the 24 hour mark, again 48 hours after that, and most recently on Monday - all with the good pop up. However, I have heard that Pearson changed that and that it may be unreliable now. After waiting on hold for 45 minutes, I finally spoke with someone at the BRN this morning who was pretty much unhelpful. She checked my file and said that everything in my file was in order and that they were just waiting for the results from Pearson. She said to give them; right you guessed it, the standard "2-4 weeks." Then she said, "All I can say is to keep checking the website," and before I could get out my next question of why some people get their results in 48 hours or less and others it seems it takes longer, she flat out hung up on me. I was being sweet as can be too because I know that they hold all the power. I am not even going to repeat what went through my head at that time. I then called Pearson to close the loop. After waiting on hold for 3.5 hours (I was doing other things besides just sitting by the phone), I decided to go back on their website to see what other phone numbers might be available. I then saw a chat feature. I spoke with someone at Pearson and they said that my results had been sent to the CA BRN the same day as I took the exam. The whole reason for telling my story is to see if there are others out there like me that are currently waiting for their results and figured this may be a place were we can figure out the "black box" together. A couple of things that I have found through research is the following: PVT trick may or not be reliable at this point. Apparently their are false negatives but I really haven't found any evidence of false positives. If you have another option underneath your Manage Applications Tab that shows under the "Choose Application" the option "12 - RN Exam Repeat/Reapply Application, it does not mean that you failed and most likely means that there was a problem in the transfer from Pearson to the CA BRN that requires them to manually grade your results. From others on this forum I have seen results manually processed in as little as 16 days and some as long as 21 days. I have seen longer but that appears to be a few years ago. In California, since we don't participate in the 48 hour Quick Results, it is useless checking PearsonVUE for status. A friend of mine got his license yesterday and still has "Results not available" on PearsonVUE's website. So who else is unlucky out there like I am being potentially manually processed? IENurse

They will take lower GPAs but will look for compensating factors. My GPA was just above a 3.0 but the science prerequisites were just below a 4.0. I also had a wealth of experience in business and also had volunteer hours. Everyone is different and that's what they like - different experiences that everyone can bring to the table. Pick and choose your letters of recommendation carefully, do the best you absolutely can in the science prerequisites, read up on the types of interview questions you might see and prepare appropriate but authentic responses. It's a great school with a great reputation. You just need to show them how you will contribute to that heritage and that you can handle the rigor. Best of luck to you!

Concealed Carry for Caregivers
I haven't read all of the comments on this thread but my thoughts are why not arm the security guards. If we are concerned about them, maybe the employer should hire a higher level security guard that is armed. I am also not opposed to others in various positions being armed. Just because you are armed doesn't mean that you need to use your weapon (i.e. if safety of others is an issue and you are not a marksman). This is absolutely something that hits home because I am just about to start a program that is within a mile of where all this took place. I am expecting during my orientation for a plan of action to be provided and if it isn't, I am going to demand that they come up with one. What is absolutely scary about this situation in particular was that this guy was leading a normal American life. In other words, there were no warning signs to his coworkers. His neighbors on the other hand knew something wasn't right but for fear of being labeled a racist, didn't report it. In other words, this type of situation could happen anywhere, at anytime, with people who you think you know but clearly don't. At any rate, I think we need to have a very serious discussion in this country and at the employer level too on how we are going to deal with this issue. To my knowledge, and I could be wrong on this, but I don't believe that our hospitals are very well protected. That is scary for someone like me who would like to get started in the ER.

IE Campus won't be getting that packet for another 3-4 weeks. Since you guys found out 2.5 weeks sooner, I imagine that the packet will come in the next week or two.

Azusa ELM Summer 2016
Alright guys. Looks like I am in at the IE Campus! Got the following e-mail this morning. "Greetings, We wanted to let you know that we have updated your APU Network Account to reflect your Graduate Student affiliation with APU." Details will follow. Letters from the Graduate Center and IE Campus should be coming in the mail within the next few days.

@k_anderson - not sure if your allnurses.com account is setup to e-mail you when you receive PM messages but I sent you a couple....

Azusa ELM Summer 2016
@k_anderson - Brutal. What is sounds like to me is that before the letter is generated and mailed out that, if we are accepted, we will get an e-mail saying that our status with the college has changed to Graduate Student affiliation with APU. Then the letter would follow that since they are mailing that out.

@k_anderson - Did they indicate when those letters would be sent? Thanks for reaching out to them.

Azusa ELM Summer 2016
@k_anderson. Seriously! Ever since YUYU1219 responded that she heard on Monday, I've been checking my phone almost instantly when it buzzes. LOL. Man, I hope we find out soon. Waiting, when you know others at the other campuses are hearing back is brutal. Are you taking any classes this semester? I am finishing up my last prerequsite.

Azusa ELM Summer 2016
@k_anderson - Welcome to the forum of waiting! LOL. I applied to the IE campus and I have heard nothing thus far. I did call them the week prior to the 31st and was told they would be meeting on the 31st to make decisions for all the campuses. They also told me that we would hear back from them within the first couple of weeks of September. I took a brief inventory of people posting on this forum. It seems that it is the SD and Main campuses that have gotten out to people at this point. I too would like to know if anyone else that applied to the IE campus has heard anything.

@Malec001 - I just did a quick inventory of who applied to which campus. It seems like the SD campus is getting out to everyone but IE and the main campus hasn't started reaching out to people yet. Have you heard anything yet?
