What do you know about Scott and White?
Im from Texas, have not lived there in a long time but it used to be known as the Mayo Clinic of the south. Its not that far from Waco or Austin.

? For those who do C-Sections often
I've had Dads pass out on me during lady partsl births and C/Sections. It can make things pretty difficult, now you need to get MORE help in the room to take care of Dad. I once had a Dad pass out and break his nose, he kept passing out so we needed to get him on a stretcher and take him to the ED. A few pointers...... not to sound harsh. Just because you are not eating in labor doesn't mean he shouldn't eat. Dad's should rest if possible too, if your able to rest (as in pain med or epidural he should rest too.) Im all for Dad's being right there--they should be, but there have been a few times when I came out of a delivery feeling like I spent a little too much time taking care of Dad. Probably the ideal situation would be for another family member to step in, a very close friend to help coach or just be with you so your husband could get out of the room and get some fresh air outside every once in a while.

Good reads
Bel Canto is an excellent book. My all time favorite is A Prayer for Owen Meany by John Irving, also The Cider house Rules by the same author is excellent. Ahabs Wife is good. Can't remember the author.

Help! Checking Dilation
I wouldn't stress about this at all. I've seen different Dr.s make calls like this on the same pt.. It's not like you had her pushing. There are to many other things to worry about in OB. Good for you in getting an OB job as a new grad, sometimes hard to do. Hang in there.

Relocating to the Desert
Thanks for replying. Congratulations on the birth of your son!! That's actually the area I am interested in. I've been doing L&D nursing for a long time, and would like to continue in that area. I know The Kennedy hospital does about 3500 births a year. I don't know about Desert Reg. Do they have LDRP's? I also want to know where the safest areas to live are. Best High School, etc. Anything you want to let me know about the area is great. Thank you very much.
