  1. Hi. I am a nurse of 7 years. I have worked in several areas including medsurge, community healtH, visiting nurse and SNF. I have an opportunity to possible take on the role of RN designee. The thing is that no matter how hard I search I cannot find any reviews good or bad on this particular role. I work as an RN supervisor in a SNF now and employee morale is low. They have union in place that tosses write ups out and attendance is poor. I would like to hear from anyone who is or was an RN designee about how they felt about the role, what it's like on a day to day basis and if it is worth leaving my current job for. If it's going to present the same problems I won't bother. Thanks guys.
  2. I am a first year nursing stu ent. I believe that nursing is a calling. I do not have nurses in my family and i did not really know what nursing was until I started school. I'm speaking for myself by the way. Not sure who else feels the same. I think about my patients when I go home. I am making a difference in someones life for a living. When I'm hungry, thirsty, tired my patient's needs come first. I enjoy what I do. Maybe it's because I'm a newbie?
  3. Ok I have awesome advice for you. Take good class notes, dont read every single word in your text book. Watch Nurse Nacole on youtube. She has a video on how to read your textbook. Type: Nurse Nacole how to read textbook. It will workout just fine. There is also another video called: Nursing school, how to read the book.
  4. Thank you for this info...when you say local libraries where exactly do you mean? I use Burroughs and Saden in Bport.
  5. Hi. I am starting nursing in September. I have 3 kids, I'm married and my husband is a kidney patient. During my Anatomy and Physiology level 2 class my hubby got a call for a kidney. It was the first week of school for my children and I. I am the only one that works. I missed most of my classes and got an A-. Mind you my husband was back and forth to the hospital and I had to do everything myself. It was a nightmare, but I passed. Please stop listening to negative talk of other peoples experiences. You can do anything you put your mind to.
  6. I just got my third nursing text book in the mail and it's huge and very intimidating. How did you excellent nurses study for your exams?
  7. I'm married and we have 3 daughters. I've been on summer vacation, and during that time I was accepted to nursing school. So now I'm counting down, 4 weeks to go. Then I start my 2 year nursing program. I've always been one to completely abandon everything that has nothing to do with my school work. I'm told that nursing school is a different beast though. At this rate I'll be sleeping in my study room. Hope my hubby doesnt leave me...
  8. Been chasing a certain hospital like a dog with no luck. What's a girl gotta do to get noticed?
  9. Thank you for your response. I am done with all pre req classes and I am starting nursing courses in September. I've heard it said that notes will be used way more than books. I bought one older edition book for $10. I'm going to rent one other. I have a lot of loan money left over but have to wait for it to be disbursed.
  10. Hi, I was accepted to Bridgeport Hospital School of Nursing and got the book list. Yikes, its like $1500 of books. Any suggestions?
  11. Just reply and we can link up. I'll pick them up. (Fairfield County CT only)
  12. Hi. Thank you so much for the info. I am attending this September. I saw the part about the books. I am so extreamly tight on cash and this achool doesn't provide a way to charge books to financial aid. What do youbthink about renting books? I bought the dosage c calculation book. We have assigned reading in the Nursing in Today's World and Fundamentals of Nursing. Theses two are exspensive. I am very much an audio learner so do you think it better to invest in a recorder, and which one?
