Ah, then I must have just put "summer cohort" as my preference and assumed that was the only one I was applied to. Well, hopefully you get in as well! I'm super excited!

If this is your dream, then you can make it happen, even if it take a few years of saving up to afford it. That's what I'm doing. I worked full time for a few years and saved up every penny I could to put toward my education. Yes, it offsets it a few years. But if that's what it takes, then that's what it takes. My dad can't cosign a loan either because he has bad credit (from cosigning my brother's student loan, who hasn't been making payments, so I can see your mom's concern) and he isn't paying a penny for funding my classes--and he shouldn't have to. I'm an adult and am responsible for my own life and future. Once you turn 18, start building up good credit by using a credit card responsibly and get a full time job to earn the funds you need, so you don't need someone to cosign the loan. If you don't have a car, bike or walk to the job. I know 5K sounds like a lot, but considering how much most students are short for their tuition (mine is 43K) it really is a very small debt. I wish I could get great scholarships like yours! Long story short, if you really want this, then work for it a few years before starting. Yeah, waiting sucks, but thats life. It will help you mature.

I do the exact thing. Sometimes on an unusually stressful, busy day when I am tired, something might just be the last straw and I just break into tears. I know they are coming, and I try with all my will, but dang it, the tears come anyway. It's embarrassing.

Thank you!! They didn't say how far they had made it through the wait list, but I know I was in the 'moderately likely' category, or whatever the middle part of the wait list was called. I don't know if it makes a difference, but I had applied to the summer cohort, which started in June. I had no idea my wait list spot would be applied to the next cohort, although I'm certainly not complaining!

Hello everyone--I'm a bit late to the party here. I was just emailed by admissions on Friday and told that a spot had opened up for the fall cohort and I was next on the wait list. I totally wasn't expecting it because I had applied to the summer cohort back in March and got my denial letter 4 months ago, and was put in the "moderately likely" section of the wait list. I've decided I am taking the spot and so I am looking forward to starting the ABSN in fall! Anyone need a roommate?

I've been accepted to Rogue Community College's nursing program, and just yesterday, received an email saying a spot had opened up in the OHSU Portland campus Accelerated BSN and I was next on the alternate list. I have to decide which program I want to go to by Monday July 20! (Basically tomorrow evening!) I know all nursing schools are tough and I have heard that the OHSU accelerated program is insanely hard. I'd like to get an idea from any current or past students just how manageable it is. Just how fast do these classes move? Do you feel like there is enough time to study for the classes you have? Do you feel like it is overwhelming? Is part of the reason the program only last 5 terms because they aren't doing all those non-nursing electives that other programs require, since we've got those done in our previous bachelor's degree? How many credits do you take per term? Are you glad you chose to do the accelerated program rather than a regular paced program? I have no kids, no spouse or significant other, and won't be working while doing school. I was halfway down the alternate list and had about a 3.6 or so GPA in my previous degree in geography (I think being 20 and immature at the time had something to do with that), although I got straight A's on my prerequisites last year. The prerequisites were done at a community college and I didn't have a busy schedule when I did them, though. Thoughts? Insight? Advice? Thank you in advance!
