I am a current nursing student and am looking for a part time job in the medical field. I am working on updating my resume and was unsure if I should add my clinical experience to it. I am just about to complete my second clinical rotation and feel like the skills I have learned would be a great addition to my resume. If it is ok to put on my resume, would I put the information under the work experience or education section? Thank you in advance for any advice. I have never been all the great at writing resumes. I had an A in Micro and A and P one, and a B in A and P 2. My GPA was a 2.8 (when I first went to NOVA I did not take it seriously) but the last 2 years I have had A's and B's in all of my classes. I think they just look at your last 12 credit hours. I got a 100% on my Math TEAs, around a 71% on my grammar, and an 87% on my reading. I feel like my math is what helped me with having such a low score on the grammar section. It sounds like it used to be a lot easier to get in, but more people are applying, and they are taking less people. I would deff say if you do not have an A or B in your sciences retake them, it seems like no matter how high your TEAs scores are if you do not have an A or B in the sciences you will not get in.

I applied to the traditonal with same GPA and did not get in but my teas were high 80s for math and reading and high 60s for grammer.

I was accepted into the hybrid program. I had an A in micro and A and P one. A B in A and P 2. I got 100% on my math TEAs, an 89 on the reading and mid 70s on the grammer. I finished all my corequs with As and Bs in all of them.

Has anyone else heard anything?

I just found out I have gotten accepted into the hybrid nursing program at Northern Virginia Community College. I am so excited, but also very nervous. I have orientation on the 30th, however wanted to see if there was anyone on here who have done either a hybrid program at NOVA or the regular program and can let me know how it is. I am hoping to work at least 20 hours a week, but am not sure it is possible and would like to know. My husband is willing to pick up more shifts to support me while I am in nursing school, however he already works 50+ hours a week, so I would like to keep him from having to work too much more. Has anyone done the NOVA program and still been able to work? I have completed all my co-requisites, and am hoping that will lighten my load. Sorry for the rambling, I am so excited but also feel so lost as to what I should be expecting.

I have all my co-req classes complete. I got an A in A&P 1 and Micro, and a B in A&P 2. My reading teas was 87%, english and language was 71% and math was 100%. I really think it was the 100% in math that helped a lot. I hope you guys all hear from them and have all gotten in as well.

I just got an email saying I got a provisional acceptance. Did anyone else get one?

I did not get one about providing something either. When I applied to the Fall 2016 program no one mentioned getting an email like that either. Did anyone who got one of the email's asking for a passport move to the area recently? I know with the domicile review they look at where everyone is located and give priority to people located in the vicinity of the campuses, then the people who are out of the immediate area or out of state are considered.

Just got my email saying that my application has been processed. Hope to hear something about acceptances soon.

Hey guys I just spoke with someone from NOVA student services and she said that they are still processing some of the applications. She said that they were behind due to the large amount of applications that they received, but could not tell me how many it was that they had gotten. Hoping by the end of the week to hear something.

I have not gotten on either. I think I will call NOVA on Monday or Tuesday if I still have not heard anything

I have not gotten an email either. I applied to the Fall 2016 program and I feel like the sent emails out over 3 days saying that applications were received. I am hoping that is the case this time around. I am super nervous though. I saw someone had said something about 400 people applying and 200 being qualified, does anyone know if that was in regards to they Jan 2017 start, or was it in reference to the Fall 2016 start, because that was about what we had apply then. Also what is qualified, like just meaning you meet the minimum requirements, or qualified as in being competitive. Other than my TEAs score in grammar (70.8%) I feel semi confidant with my other scores and grades, but am worried that will pull me down.

I have yet to hear from them about my application. I know it was received because I got certified mail receipt after someone signed for it, but am still waiting on NOVA to email me that my application has been processed. Has anyone gotten an email from them just saying that their application was received and processed? I hope there are not 400 people applying, I was really hoping there would not be as many for this start date. Megan

I applied to the Fall program and did not get in so I am retaking my TEAs and hoping to do a little better. Has anyone taken the version 6 exam? For the Fall start date we did version 5 so I am a little unsure how different this will be. Good luck to all of you!

I haven't gotten anything yet either

Hey everyone I have a question about a program offered through my community college. I hope I am posting this in the right area. A little background, I had applied to my community colleges RN program starting in August 2016, however I did not get in. They usually accept 80% of the applicants, this year they accepted only 20%. I would really like to get some sort of degree or certification in the medical field, while waiting to apply again. I have looked at the job market, and a lot of places seem to be hiring CMA's, which I think would be great experience, and help me through school once I get in. My community college has a workforce development program, and they offer a CCMA, certified clinical medical assistant. Can someone let me know what the difference is, and if I would still be able to apply to jobs asking for a CMA? The program is about 3 months of in campus, and then 160 hours at a clinical site. I am very interested in this program, however I do not want to take it and find out that getting a CCMA would not let me be eligible for jobs as a CMA.

My work schedule for July is already made, so I cannot go to that one, however I am looking at going to the one in August. I like that I could jump right into the nursing program fall of 2017 if I am accepted, I had looked at Mason but due to the amount of courses before applying to their nursing program, there is no way I would be able to finish them before that application deadline. I am a little worried about the cost of Marymount though, it looks like it is almost 30$ grand for a year. Yikes:dead:

Thank you for the update. Like you I winged my TEAs, I was under the impression that GPA and prereqs/ co-reqs were looked at more than the TEAs scores. I am going to apply to the hybrid program this fall, after re-taking my TEAs, although I am unsure how that will go, being that this time around was such a mess, and they take even less students for the hybrid program.

I have to say I am a little upset that when I spoke with someone at NOVA that they did not tell me the truth, and that she said they were still sending out acceptances. It would have been nice to be told that no one else was being accepted unless someone decided to decline their acceptance. I was also under the impression that GPA was looked at more than the TEAs scores. Curious when they will be sending out the rejection emails, as much as it will hurt to get one, at least I can know it is official. Due to financial reasons I am limited to going to a community college for my ADN, and cannot pursue a BSN right away, does anyone know of any other community colleges that as an ADN program that is taking applications. I would rather not wait until next year to start, if at all possible.

I just spoke with someone as well, and they said that they were still notifying both the traditional and LPN to RN program. Keeping my fingers crossed that more of us get notified today. I hope whoever runs this facebook page is held accountable for all the chaos that the posts have caused.

It is a small hope, but maybe this means the information on facebook about all of the acceptances being sent out is inaccurate. I think I will try to call tomorrow if I do not get anything from NOVA by the afternoon. Thought of calling today but I imagine their phones are blowing up right now

any chance you would be willing to let us know what your GPA and TEAS scores were? I am a little confused because I felt like my GPA was pretty good and my TEAS scores, other than grammer, were pretty good as well. Plus I completed all of my co-reqs

I am still going to hope that someone declined their acceptance and then maybe we will find out tomorrow we got in. If not I suppose I will try to raise my TEAs scores and apply for they hybrid program starting January 2017. I'm curious what the GPA and TEAs scores were for the people who got in, my GPA was pretty good, somewhere around a 3.6 or 3.7 and other than grammar my TEAs scores were in the high 80s.

"We use a bulk email process on campus. They would have sent all accepted students an email at the same time. One batch email to LPN to RNs and one to Traditional nursing students." Just saw this on facebook. Sounds like they notified everyone who was accepted already.
