  1. Hi. Thanks all for the comments:) I have no maxed out my financial aid but I am getting close. I was wanting to hold on to my federal aid in order to pay for the program once I got in. I already have undergrad degrees and was told Monday that I had to pay out of pocket for all my classes I am taking now because of those undergrad degrees. I am looking into private loans but did not want to pay them back while I was in school. I guess my best bet is scholarships? I was told Monday that I cant apply for pell grants or grants bc I have other degrees so there goes that issue. And if I go back to a 4 year university I am going to spend at least a year getting all the science courses they require for the program done before I can apply into the program. SO Im just trying to figure out what the best bet is? Do I continue to pay out of pocket for the next 2 years for my ADN or do I go to a University and get my BSN for 3-4 more years while applying for scholarships and using my financial aid?
  2. Hi All. My name is Tiffany and Im new here. I am planning on going into a RN program at a 4 year university. Problem is I already have other degrees and don't have much financial aid left to apply and get me through the second and third year. ANY help is needed about places I could apply to get assistance. Scholarships/private loan companies/anything! This is my dream and I wish that I would've done it sooner to avoid all this but Ive recently made a change in my life and I know this is where I want to be:) Thank you all.
  3. Chapel Hill is amazing! I am a nursing student and this is my #1 pic for where I want to work! :) I visit the area all the time and there really is no place like it. The park and ride system is amazing! They have it where you can get texted when the bus is almost to you, the operators are always nice and helpful, and its easy for those working in the hospital bc it eliminates the distance it takes to walk once you get to the hospital. They are currently in the process of building new parking decks around the hospital to help with traffic but that will be years before it can be used. You should def try getting housing near the hospital. Hillsborough street has tons of apartment complexes and the walk is abut 15 mins to the hospital. My hubby was hospitalized last year at Chapel Hill for almost 60 days. He was in their ICU unit and the nurses AND doctors were ALL amazing! In the accident all my cards and purse was lost and I had no money to eat, get around ect. Those nurses there were amazing and made sure I had some food, bus travel and just loads of information to get us through. I will forever be in their favor. Congrats on getting the job. I know you are going to love it
  4. Hi all. I am new here. I will be going into a advanced 2 year nursing problem after I finish my prereqs and CNA 2. The problem I am having is this: I have already received a BA in Communications and Prelaw from a 4 year university. The financial aid office at the community college I will be applying into contacted me a few days ago and told me that because I have already received a degree I am not eligible for grants and most likely will not be able to receive financial aid. I have been tirelessly applying for scholarships online and through the school. Are there any other avenues beside work study (which I applied for) to help me pay for schooling? I am going this week and will be searching for a part time job in order to bring in some additional money but Im kinda worried it will not be enough??? Any help would be appreciated. :)
