Sacramento Nursing
See, the cost of living isn't that high. The median home price in Sacramento is 270k; whereas, the median price in San Francisco is 1 million. So there'es my question: the RN wages in Sacramento seem to much outweigh the cost of living when compared to nearby cities.

Sacramento Nursing
Hey guys, So I'm currently an RN with my BSN working in michigan. I'm considering a move all the way to Sacramento for hopes of higher pay and closer to fun. I already know what you're saying, "Remember the cost of living is higher!" well that may be true, but from my research (and please - correct me if I'm wrong) but the starting pay at UC Davis is $50+/hour and the median home price is the same as where I'm at in Michigan where I make $29/hour. So, by my accounts, yeah groceries may be slightly more pricey, but will that balance out a pay raise of $21/hour? How is Sacramento? How is UC Davis Hospital? Is any of this even a good idea? I've heard mixed stories about the california nurses union. I'm already in a nurses union so it isn't that unheard of for me. Any insight would be great. Thanks.

Possible to make it work?
I'm curious about any RN's in Hawaii and how they're doing? I'm considering a move there and have been getting mixed signals about how possible it is to live and work in Hawaii as an RN and still be comfortable financially. I understand the pay is higher than most mainland rates, but does it match well to the cost of living? Is working in Honolulu as a full time RN an acceptable means of income? Or do you barely scrape by? Thanks for any input

Tampa area
Having a bachelor degree in an unrelated field really doesn't mean much. It's like saying companies want people with an MBA but you should be hired because you have a bachelor's in business and a masters in basket weaving.

Relocating from PA. Yes or no?
She wont be getting $30/hr I don't think. I'm making plans to move down to the tampa area and haven't found much info on this, but generally new grads may expect $22-24 and some experience may get you up to $26-28 if you're lucky and working night shift. Keep in mind, cost of living is pretty low and there's no state income tax. Let me know if you find any more info - just sharing what I found out.

I, too, am trying to find out information on this. I can't find any pay scales online worth while. We all know galssdoor and salary.com are way too subjective to actually put any faith into. Hopefully we both get some insight soon.

RN wanting to move to columbus
With 5 years as an RN you'll have a leg up, but 9.9/10 jobs require a year of acute care experience. You can always just throw your app out there and see how it goes. Your experience as an RN will certainly help, but it will be tricky without those years being in acute care.

Tampa/St. Pete's Pay
Hey all, I know this has been beat to death, but searching this topic brings up and old thread from 2007. I'm a nurse with a year of experience and my BSN that is having to apply to hospitals in the area coming up in a few months with my wife going to U. of South Florida for grad school. Currently I'm making $28/hr in Michigan. I realize the pay probably won't be as close to that since I live in a pretty high cost of living city right now (Ann Arbor). But any insight would be great as to what I can expect when I do apply and any hospitals you would recommend or deter me from. Thanks a lot, Steve
