Portland Community College Fall 2017
Personally, I felt like the material during the first year of the program was easier than A&P. You don't need to know all those very specific details. However, what makes it tough is that you will have 3 types of classes during that year (Fundamentals, pathophysiology, and pharmacology). You will also have to write APA papers and do clinical hours. It's more about managing your time effectively. Study groups help out a lot too.

Is it hard to get into ASN program in Oregon without having any prior certifications?
I'm not sure about other schools but pcc has a point system. Having a license is not necessary but it does allow you to earn more points. If you just volunteer, you get 1 point. If it's with patient care you get 2 points. Then they give more points if you have so many hours if you work as a cna, Emt, etc. they also only look at the gpa for your prerequisite classes. You might want to download a pdf from the school you want to apply at. For pcc's pdf file, just search for "pcc nursing"

Pcc nursing school cohort 2015-2017
That's a great idea. I'm guessing it will take a few weeks before we get enough people to organize something like a meet and greet. I'll work on setting up a facebook room. Please let anyone else you know about this thread.

2015 PCC/CCC Nursing waitlist
Congrats on getting in. Now that orientation and the deadline have passed, I'm guessing they will start calling people this week. There seemed to be a lot people at orientation, maybe 130+. Mistiq, I will try to let you know if any of my other friends get a call. Btw I made a pcc cohort thread. Trying to gather people there to network and get to know each other.

2015 PCC/CCC Nursing waitlist
I thought they just went down the list by the number of points you have. I took my prereqs at Sylvania and that's the impression I got. Do you know how many points you had before the essay?

Pcc nursing school cohort 2015-2017
Hi everyone. I just wanted to make a thread for all the students who will start this fall at pcc's school of nursing (2015). I thought this would be a great place to get to know other students in the program or ask any questions that people might have about anything related to nursing. I might not have all the answers but hopefully someone else will (vacinations, volunteering, etc). It's time to start networking everyone. Strength in numbers. Btw, congrats on getting in.

Anyone here finish their 1st year at PCC?
I was looking to get a jump start on my first two terms of nursing school. I wanted to know if any of you that completed your first year at PCC still kept your PowerPoint notes. If so, I wanted to know if I could get a copy of those notes. I'm looking for the health promotions, pathophysiology I, and pharmacology I notes. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Enjoy your summer!

2015 PCC/CCC Nursing waitlist
I got accepted to the PCC program this fall. I also know about 4 people on the waitlist. If I hear of them getting any notification of them moving up on the waitlist, I'll try to let you guys know. They did mention that most of the people on the waitlist got in last year. Hopefully that is true this year also.
