I'm a disabled Desert Storm/Shield Gulf War Vet with a BSN. I have over 24 years of experience in emergency medicine. My last 13 years are that of a Registered Nurse. My disability is related to hearing (w/aides) and inhalation of biological agents. I have a squeaky clean record, and have even held Secret clearances during my tenure. I have applied to multiple facets of Nursing vacancies. I have received only "Referred" responses since 2013! During my recent appointment at my local VA, out of frustration, I asked my intake nurse "what does it take to get a VA job?" She exclaimed to me. "Honey, it's all in who you know! we retire, we don't quit, and we don't get fired!" ... I am sad. HM3/AVT, RN, BSN, United States Navy. Why?
