NCLEX- Longest 48 hours EVER!
I passed! I'm a RN! í ¼í¾‰í ¼í½¾í ½í²ƒí ¼í¿½ My advice would be to know basic content. The questions are so cut and dry they're very simple to read and understand what it's asking. I took hurst, /'d also my uworld % was 65. The predictor was a 94%! Youll do great!

Nclex RN january 2017
I definitely wouldn't freak out! You'll be fine as long as you're doing the questions and reading the rationale. I only did around 800 questions and had whatever was left. I was averaging around 65% and the predictor assessment I got a 69% I think which gave me a 94% "strongly high" of passing. I guess i'll see in a couple of hours! PRAYINNNGGG the PVT is right!

Nclex RN january 2017
Hey, yeah I just kept track in my head. My first 10 questions I had 6 SATA. It was nuts. Ive heard that getting a lot of SATA is a good thing but IDK. Im just ridiculously anxious. So, I did Hurst back in august before my final semester and took the review again this past Monday-Wednesday. I also bought Uworld on Sunday and did around 200 questions a day. I really started studying like crazy on Friday up until I tested Thursday morning, at least 8+ hours lol. It was a long week.

I hope so! I'm getting more and more anxious. I had to pick up a shift at work to get my mind off of it. 9 hours and counting till I find out.

NCLEX- Longest 48 hours EVER!
Soooo. I took my nclex on the 5th at 0800. I ended leaving feeling pretty good about the test..which I thought leaving I'd be in tears. I had 75 questions around 25 SATA no med questions, no drag and drop or hotspots. Im kinda freaking out because I thought I would be getting some EXTREMELY hard questions that I would be completely stumped on. Im hoping that I was just prepared and got lucky and they asked all the right questions. I did the PVT and got the good pop up at 2, 12, 24, 36 hours post test soooo Im praying that its right! HELP! I feel extremely nervous and anxious. Anyone else ever feel this way?

NCLEX-RN TODAY-12pm
Hey! So did you feel like the test was a lot easier than you thought? Im going crazy over here. I too ended with 75 questions, around 25 SATA and 1 exhibit question. No med calculations, drag and drop or anything! I did the PVT and got the good pop up, but I feel like I should of gotten extremely hard questions. I'm hoping I was just super prepared and not getting low level questions! EEEEEEEK.

EEK! Just took my Nclex the 5th and am still waiting for quick results. Did the PVT and got the good pop up, but I'm still extremely nervous! I ended up with 75 questions in a little over an hour. Around 25 SATA, I just don't feel like the test was THAT hard. I was expecting some questions that I would be completely stumped on, but that never happened. HELP!

Congrats everyone who was accepted! Btw! Be extra proud of yourself. In lecture the other week Dr. Jewell told us there was over 490 applicants for fall with only 100 seats. So congrats again!

Baptist School Of Health Professions- Fall 2016
You're welcome! I had SO many questions before I started the program and wish I had someone to ask lol. "Medical ethics" is just normal 1301 ethics at Alamo colleges. I have no clue why BSHP calls it that. It's just confusing. So to advance and take classes during the summer they send out an e mail 3 weeks before spring break asking whoever is interested to reply and you'll be considered. To my knowledge there is only around 30 slots AND the people who are automatically put into those 30 slots are people who are a semester ahead and failed a class. There was about 15 people who failed pedi or maternal who automatically took 15/30 of those open seats. Then it opens to everyone in the night, day and LVN/RN program. It's really based off your gpa. They look at the grades you made during fundamentals, commons, and complex. The e mail says "generally students have between a 3.2-3.6" but to be safe strive for that 4.0. You also have to be able to attend a week long camp in July for pedi that's out of town or, get lucky enough and attend a camp for juvenile diabetes Monday-Friday here in town. Oh! And you also have to have all of your pre-reqs done. I still needed a sociology and college algebra and took those in the spring along with my nursing classes in order to apply for summer. So is suggest to get them done in your first semester because the second semester is much harder. mental health and pharmacology in the same 8 weeks is NO joke. Beware though, taking classes through the summer isn't for everyone and it's in the e mail. It puts you going 32 weeks straight of school with one week break at the end of August only to start another 16 weeks after only having 1 week off! . There is no break between spring and summer it literally goes from a Friday to a Monday. It's defiantly possible though! I work full time and obviously go to school full time lol, I have no life but! You get through a 24 month program in 15 months. So it's so worth it! Hope that helps! Feel free to ask anything else!

Baptist School Of Health Professions- Fall 2016
Hey Ashley! Just thought I'd come by and answer your question! I'm currently in my 3rd semester at BSHP going through the summer! Clinical days vary each semester. 1st Semester 1st 8 weeks - Thursday/Friday -- there was also an optional 12 hour clinical offered for Saturday for students who were interested 2nd 8 weeks - Tuesday/ Wednesday 2nd Semester 1st 8 weeks - Tuesday/Wednesday 2nd 8 weeks- Thursday/Friday -- There was also a optional 12 hour clinical on either Thursday or Friday for the students who were interested 3rd Semester I applied to advance a semester and was chosen so I think our clinical schedule is going to be different vs the normal 3rd semester fall clinical schedule but it goes as follows 1st 8 weeks - *Mandatory* 12 hour clinical either Tuesday or Wednesday (clinical instructors pick which day you will be at clinical) 2nd 8 weeks - They are all over the place. It depends on which c.a.m.p you are going, depends on what clinical days you will have Let me know if you have any more questions!

First case study..ever.
I think I just lost myself now. lol The P's :) Unrelenting Pain, pallor, parasthesias (abnormal sensation, prickling, tingling "pins and needles" caused by pressure on or damage to peripheral nerves), and paresis (muscle weakness) --> all indicators of compartment syndrome. The question I was given is 1. Identify the priority nursing diagnosis 2. Identify 3 nursing interventions and explain rationale 3. How would I evaluate the outcome of the interventions So.. 1. Risk for peripheral neuromuscular dysfunction: related to unstable bones and swelling (do they normally want you to explain why? ) Sorry for all of the questions but they haven't given us much insight. Interventions- 1. Peripheral Sensation Management- Check pulses distal to the injury and compare with the unaffected side. Asses for pain, pallor, paresthesias and paresis which can be indicators for compartment syndrome. Check application and function of corrective device, compartment syndrome can also result from improper casting or splinting. Position extremity in the correct alignment with each position change, this ensures appropriate alignment. 2. Joint Mobility- Since the patient will be on bed rest and immobile, continuing regular strengthening exercise will decrease the risk for atrophy of unaffected limbs and ensure continuous circulation throughout the body while promoting comfort and well being 3. Prevention of DVT's and PE's - Monitor pt for signs of DVT's which include pain, deep tenderness, swelling, apply compression stockings. DVT's and PE's can be fatal therefor the patient needs to be monitored closely Evaluation- Still kind of unsure about this. Does this ever get easier?!

Any Baptist Health System Nursing (RN) students???
Hey! I'm just now entering my 3rd week in my first semester at BSHP! I absolutely love the teachers and basically everything about the school! They're always willing to help and extremely resourceful. Lectures are really fast paced, so you HAVE to read and go over everything before lecture in order to ensure you understand what they're talking about. We start clinicals this week and I'm really excited! Did you apply for spring?

First case study..ever.
Thank yall so much for helping! So I was thinking about it and now I think that the priorty diagnosis should be risk for peripheral neurovascular dysfunction. Although impaired mobility is important due to the possibility of a DVT or skin breakdown and then infection that to me has more steps in order to get there vs a fat embolism with peripheral neurovascular dysfunction. Impried mobility --> risk for DVT ---> developed ---> risk for PE vascular dysfunction ---> fat embolism ---> possible death/serious health hazard There is also compartment syndrome as another possible complication. I will definitely look into that NANDA book! Thank you for the recommendation, everything helps! Soooo..am I on the "best" right track now lol.

First case study..ever.
So I just wanted to see if someone could help me by telling me if I am on the right track.. we were given a case study of..."The patient is a 33 year old male who is diagnosed with a compound fracture of the left femur after falling three feet off a ladder at his home. He sustained no other injury from the fall. The patient underwent surgery to reduce the fracture and stabilize the femur with insertion of internal devices (screws). He is now admitted post-operatively to the orthopedic unit. I was given the question of identifying the priority nursing diagnosis according to the book, which the top 3 were given 1. Acute pain related to compound fracture of left femur 2. Impaired physical mobility related to bed rest and fractured left femur and 3. Risk for peripheral neurovascular dysfunction related to unstable bones and swelling. I just wanted to make sure I was on the right track with my thought process. Although acute pain seems to be important, number two seems to outweigh it to me. Impaired physical mobility related to bed rest seems to be the winner. We have not had a lecture on nursing diagnosis (its this week, but they wanted us to start early). It seems to be that with the immobility the patient is going to sustain is a greater potential health risk (skin break down, impaired muscle movement, risk for DVT's) I may be completely off track..but any help would be appreciated! :)
