Advice wanted..
Hi everyone, I am requesting advice from you on how to handle my situation at my new job. I recently changed careers into a new hospital specialty after several years experience in a home specialty. I did well in my last career. I developed some great friends and relationships, some of which I still enjoy. Long story short, we moved to a new area and I was looking for a new career to boost my experience and learn new valuable skills. I applied to a job which I thought would fit me well, and in a lot of ways it does and I do also... however, I sense (and overtly noted by my coworkers) don't receive a lot of trust and support at times from my colleagues. Some understandable that I didn't come in with a lot of translatable skills. I am happy and work hard and have made some great relationships. Overall, I tend to get side glances, sneering comments, and overall resistance to mesh in. I don't want to quit (not an option) and I'm honestly too stubborn and tough to give up so easily anyway. Please give me some guidance on how you (or have seen others you didn't like) won your team over?

The 411 on errors...???
I'm asking for advice because I know I could make a huge error, but definitely don't want to do that! If I made it sound as though I'm now a "know it all" (laughs) I'm certainly not! :) While I totally understand that you'd feel anger against someone that assumes they've "been there, done that" (they're dangerous), I actually am saying that I do not trust myself too fully! It is because I know how it feels after a stupid mistake is made (horrible) and how it feels to hit it out of the park (awesome), and the difference can come down to paying attention the smallest detail.-I am asking for advice to guard against errors, after all.... Also, I do own that errors are definitely possible for me in my next career, even though my last job went well most of the time. Rather than thinking of my question as "proof if insulation" please understand my question comes from care of the job I'll do in my next profession. My past experience overall, I can and am proud of, though-however NOT perfect. Can't you say the same of your career?

The 411 on errors...???
I'm a nursing school hopeful, still hoping and crossing my fingers to be accepted, but am looking at a few of the threads here on errors and mistakes & am a little nervous.... I already have experience in the clinical setting (laboratory), and understand well the importance of consistent and competent patient care and quality work....with that said, I've never had to work with dying/combatant/confused/etc patients, reporting to doctors (other than lab reports), etc...I know my previous job is just as important in patient care, just such a new animal in a lot of ways, how did you make it through the first year as a new nurse post nursing school?? Thanks!!!!

Why can't i get a job???? US RN
To be fair, I don't have my nursing degree so I can't speak to your field, per se. Buuut...I did graduated from a healthcare career several years ago. I have to admit I was very fortunate to have my clinical practicum site and the director of the cytology lab in the school offer me a position with another director they knew well before I even graduated, but ended up out west where I wanted to go (took me 2 months after school). So could someone from your school know someone and give you a recommendation?? GOOD LUCK!!!

3.4 gpa-doomed?
I have recently gone back to college to become an RN, and my previous school record wasn't the most stellar. :/ But my program itself (cytology) that I did previously, I rocked it...but because of the past prereqs which were not so hot, I'm only sitting at 3.4 gpa and have retaken all I have to able to.... Just curious if others have gone through the same, and am I likely looking at an uphill battle to get in? Thanks!!!!!
