Stanford
One more Q :). How have the staff turnover rates been at a place like Stanford? I can't imagine they would be like I've witnessed where I live but wondered.

Stanford
Hi! Thank you for responding! I have a bombardment of questions but I will only ask a few and not take much of your time. 1. What do you think of the culture there? In general, are the staff happy? Is the department adequately staffed? 2. I know the area is expensive and people probably commute from all over the Bay Area - how is the quality of life with the compensation versus the high cost of living area? I am aware of the payscale of the union (for reference). 3. What are some of the challenges the staff and department are facing right now?

Stanford
Anyone worked in the OR there? Looking for feedback on work life.

Tattoos!
AFAIK you may run into problems at school, however I've seen plenty of nurses at magnet hospitals with them uncovered.
-
What nursing specialty interests you the most for the future?
CRNA. Father is an anesthesiologist and witnessed countless hours of OR time watching what he does. Love it.

I work at the SF VA. No idea if they partner with COM (wouldn't be surprised if not - lot of hoops to go through with the VA).

Fortunately I'm a CNA at a hospital in SF and plan on working while in school so I hope that might get me an in after the program! :)

Thank you! What were some things you wish you had done prior your first semester? Can be something you should have learned/refreshed yourself from prereqs, bought something etc.

Have to turn in an acceptance/decline in seven days. That's probably why it takes a while. I wish you the best of luck!

Still nothing. They still must be 49-51 right now. I emailed Joan last Thursday and she said the number they're on (49) hasn't changed and she wouldn't know any more for a few days.

Math: Make sure you can add/subtract/multiply/divide using no calculator fast. May seem a little funny at first, but being able to it quickly saves a lot of time. Know roman numerals - there will be a question like "What does MXIVCLL mean?" Only had three algebraic problems on my test. Know basic measurements. Science: I had more life science questions than A&P questions, so brush up on your chem and basic A&P knowledge. I had 14 earth/physical science question so delve a little into your geology. Also 8 basic scientific reasoning questions (know scientific method and such). Reading and English sections straight forward, but half of your reading section gives you tables and advertisements and such and wants to see how you comprehend seeing information. Don't sweat it. Took all my pre-reqs at COM and didn't study and got over a 90. It's not difficult - just stressful because we have to pass it!

Definitely! I think they take 36+10 if they receive additional funding (it's really unclear how they do it and I've heard ten different answers from ten people). Is COM your first choice?

I've talked with three others about their results; all of them got in the 100s . I've heard stories of people getting in in the 80's so have some faith!!!

Check your emails everyone. I'm #52 with a 91% on my TEAS. Hoping some people below me don't accept. Congrats to everyone who got in!
