  1. I waited up too, there's nothing posted yet. The suspense is killing me! Well... off to work... When the decisions come out, it will be on your main dashboard (where you see "application submitted", your references listed, supporting documentation, etc.). Near the top it will say in green "Decision Finalized". Also, at the very bottom after Other Supporting Doc an additional link will appear. It will say "Decision Status" and have a blue hyperlink that will say "Your application decision is now available online." Last year we did not get an email but the decisions were posted right on time (the 20th @ 12:01). So this year... maybe they'll send an email? Or shall I see you guys at 12:01 again?
  2. I completed my interview today! It went much better than last year, I might have triumphed over my phone-phobia. It sounded like they would maybe be wrapping up interviews next week. Let the wait begin! (* * Jeopardy music * *) I wish you all happy news in two weeks! If not, keep calm and stay awesome!
  3. Good luck, guys! I haven't gotten a call yet but I did get an email this afternoon saying the interview scheduling is taking longer than expected and we WILL get calls next week. They even typed it all caps like that. *Phew* Have a good weekend and Thanksgiving! í ¾í¶ƒ
  4. Nada here! But the week is still young...
  5. soulshine101- Congrats, grad! I was just curious in what capacity you found a job after the program and if you have seen the CNL designation used in Virginia? The hospital where I currently work has no one with that designation, I just wondered if it was starting to be used here. Thanks!
  6. Also, be mentally prepared for a phone interview (in general). This threw me off last year and this goes for all phone interviews. The interviewer will ask a question, then wait for a response. You basically have a one-way conversation and get little/no feedback (as your interviewer is busy taking notes). You get to talk for as long as you want and the interviewer will interpret your stopping as the end of your answer. Usually, there are no follow-on questions from the interviewer (regarding the same topic) nor questions for clarification. So this can be unnerving for those us are not talkers” and heavily use 2-way feedback. A little prepwork will help you stay on track and make sure you talk about everything you need to because you basically get one shot to answer the question. You wont get a nod of approval or anything, just a little silence with an Okay…” that leads to the next question. At the end, you may get an opportunity to add anything additional to your previous answers” but I was so frazzled by this point I couldn't remember the questions, much less my answers! Many companies are using these along with video chats or prerecording your answers, eesh! They can be awful if you've never done one before but I've been told that with prep work and practice you have a better chance at handling them well. Good luck!
  7. No updates from this end either. Hopefully waiting. I'm going to start sketching some talking points for the interview, just in case. A lot of the questions will draw on your work experiences, handling certain scenarios, etc. A tip for you guys, take some time to think about the following: -Why you want UVa's CNL program -Why nursing -Your strengths/weaknesses -Your leadership style, experiences, etc. (Hence Clinical Nurse LEADER) Remember, they already have your essays and resume. Think about your answers providing additional information, additional things you want them to know, etc. Additionally, think of any questions you may have for your interviewer.
  8. My interview last year was October 23rd and was scheduled the week before so it's most definitely in that window mentioned. Thanks for verifying, Cowboy 21277.
  9. If someone hears about their interview, please post here so we know it's starting!
  10. With my botched interview, it was just a combo of factors. Most importantly, I HATE talking on the phone. I am awesome face-to-face... not so much on the phone. So, I was completely uncomfortable the whole time and that probably came thru. Secondly, I think I was so nervous about trying to cover ALL the bases that I tried to plan my answers too much instead of just answering honestly. I wanted so badly to show that I had healthcare experience, that I knew what I was getting in to, that I had leadership skills, that I could handle the academic load, why I wanted UVA's program.... and I think in the end none of it got through. I have a very weak undergrad GPA and last year had very little hands-on patient experience and I think I just tried so hard I screwed myself up. I don't feel like I was myself, nor do I feel like I adequately represented myself in the phone interview so that's my goal for this year. I may review some of the basic information right before and read some of the sample questions posted around in different places but I think it'll go better if I just... go with it. :) ON THE OTHER HAND... they just simply can't take everyone. That's the hard truth. Perhaps if I had done a great interview, I STILL would have gotten passed over simply because of the competitiveness of the applicant pool. And because there aren't many hard-and-fast requirements for the program, we don't have anything concrete to "shoot for" except that we'll be judged on our "entire package". Thus, the saying goes (which is easier said than done): give it your best shot and let the chips fall where they may.
  11. Hi, Carolid- I'm applying too. I made myself stop editing my essays and just send them in already. And I too have one reference that hasn't been submitted! Talk about crunch time... I'm just staying on her, true panic time will be this weekend. Everything else is in though. It's a long two months to decision, it will always be hanging there. I applied last year and didn't get in, pretty sure I blew it on the interview. But now we have a place to all hold on together. Good luck! s37h
