  1. Hi all! Can anyone guide me on how best to cite the following reference in APA? https://www.ahrq.gov/sites/default/files/wysiwyg/professionals/quality-patient-safety/hais/tools/mvp/modules/technical/early-mobility-mvpguide.pdf
  2. Currently, they consider the ICU/PCU the same unit. Even the ICU nurses are required to rotate through the PCU when it's their turn. You are right in the fact that you will be trained in the ICU. There are a total of 4 phases, and you spend 3 of the 4 phases training in the ICU. From my understanding, when they are hiring for ICU positions in the future, they will first select from the PCU nurses before hiring from the outside. So, your chances of working in the ICU are very high if you don't mind waiting for a little while. In the PCU you will have a total of 3 patients at a time that can vary anywhere between surgical, medicine, cardiac and neuro. So you see a wide variety of patient populations. Thats why it's kind of hard to say what you will see because it is always changing. It is a good stepping-stone to becoming an ICU nurse and recognize changes in patient acuity.
  3. I have been researching different elements about the AACN's synergy model. However, I cannot seem to find resources that directly address how this defines the four categories of the nurse's metaparadigm. Does anyone know of any resources I can review that transparently clarifies this relationship?
  4. I am trying to find a theory that most relates to my PICOT question. My PICOT question is about early mobility in the critical care setting. So far, I have narrowed down the theories i think relate most: Roy's Adaptation Model Jean Watson Nursing Theory Roper Model of Living Hendersons Need Theory Does anyone one with more insight have any suggestions as to which theory would be most applicable?
  5. I am currently currently working on a PICOT question:In the critically ill patient, how does promoting mobility within 72 hours of admission compared with prolonged bedrest affect patient hospital length of stay over a three month period? I am also hoping to connect my PICOT question with a nursing midrange theory that would aid in guiding a study, or even resolution to this problem. Is anyone who is more knowledgeable on these types of theories have any ideas?
  6. That is what I thought as well. I added the element of time per my professor recommendation since we will eventually be performing our own research upon our question. But, I almost feel as if it makes more sense to just drop the T element as a whole. However, if she wants me to keep the T element, in what ways could I change my outcome so that they both aren't time related.
  7. It is a question format that relates to nursing EBP.
  8. I need some assistance in refining my PICOT questions r/t early mobility in the intensive care setting. In the critically-ill patient (P), how does promoting early mobility within 72 hours of admission (I), compared with prolonged bed rest © affect patient hospital length of stay (O) over a three month period (T)? I also added the element of time to my original PICO question; however, does this mean I should have a different outcome? I was a bit confused since the O and T now both address certain time factors. If so, what could be a different outcome that remains measurable?
  9. Hey Guys!! I have recently started studying for my NCLEX using the Hurst review. This is a core content review rather than strategy questions, unlike Kaplan. Has anyone used this program and been successful? Also, should I supplement anything else into my studying for question practice?
  10. I believe RN I pay is between 27-28. And, I am not sure if the contract is prorated or not. That is currently something I am trying to find out.
  11. They start their residents off at $24.52/hr. After 16 weeks, you move up to RN I pay.
  12. Does anyone know what it's like working in this unit at Parkland? Is the 3 year commitment/$20,000 penalty worth it?
