  1. I worked full time while going through my ADN program. So..it is feasible. But let me make it very clear that it was NOT easy at all. In fact, those 2 years were probably the most difficult of my life (so far). You have to be willing to make nursing school your top priority and that is not always an easy thing to do, especially while trying to juggle a full time job (let alone a family, significant other, etc).
  2. Thank you for all the feedback guys! I think I'm gonna play it safe and lose the beard. I don't want to take a chance on anything!
  3. Hey guys! So it finally happened! I got offered two different interviews today at a rather prestigious hospital. I am really excited and nervous. However, I have an issue. I have a beard. It is nothing big...not Duck Dynasty level or anything...and it was never a problem during clinicals. However, I want to put my best foot forward in this interview. What are your thoughts? Should I shave the beard...or keep it for the interview? Thanks guys!
  4. Update: I PASSED!!! Thank God!
  5. I did well. I got high marks in clinical and made Bs in all but maternity.
  6. Hey guys! So...I took my NCLEX-RN today. I got cut off after 76 questions. I am 98.9% sure that I correctly answered the 76th question. Does that mean that I likely passed, since it cut me off after correctly answering the 76th question? Or am I just being overly positive? The nerves are starting to get to me! Thanks for any feedback!
  7. For me, pre-reqs and nursing school were two different animals entirely. In nursing school, I had to wrap my head around the fact that there are always at least two correct answers for every question asked. It is completely different from Micro, A&P, psychology, etc. in that memorization of content can only take you so far. I personally think that a critical thinking course should be mandatory prior to starting nursing school...it would have helped me out a lot!
  8. To second what has already been said...a reliable printer, or at least access to one, is imperative. I don't think I could have gotten through nursing school without having a printer. Powerpoints, case studies, practice questions...these are all things that I printed out on a near daily basis and they were invaluable in passing.
  9. Thank you all for your input! I'll let you know how it goes :)
  10. Hi everyone, I am going to graduate from an ACEN accredited school in about two weeks. I am planning on following up with some online applications I recently submitted to a local hospital. I plan on dropping off my resume to the nurse manager on the units I am particularly interested in. My question is this: I was planning on wearing dress pants/dress shirt/tie. Some people I have talked to said that this was excessive for simply dropping off a resume. What to do you all think?
