  1. Def. looking into a tutor. Not a whole lot where I live. I used WyzAnt before but if you guys have any links let me know, thanks for the support
  2. Not anxiety anymore because I'm so used to the experience. Def content now and wether or not tonuse Kaplan Decision Tree frustrates me. SATA trip me up a lot too. But when I kept getting Q's on one med I was like oh boy
  3. I got my ADN for RN program in 12/2013. I failed the NCLEX more than once. I was offered to take the PN and I'm awaiting to hear on that, and I feel it is worth a shot. Not that it's "easier" etc. but my BON was very supportive in helping me figure out what I should do. I done Kaplan and Hurst a million times. Some people say it works some say go with your got and move on during NCLEX. idk In the mean time I need to work to pay my bills so I have to go back to my old job. Not a big deal but kind of degrading. I was thinking of going back to do a Medical Assisting program. I can finish by Sept of this year. Do the MA, work in the mean time, study when I can and continue to keep taking NCLEX? No MA, work, study for NCLEX? I just feel like I am NEVER going to pass this test. I suck at CAT testing, but like nursing school, EMT, pharm tech I all passed. Standardized testing. In a frustrating bind.. I know people who passed after their 8th, 9th & 10th attempts... doesn't make them any less of an RN. What are your thoughts? Thank you
  4. You don't demonstrate 95% certainty on getting all 265 Q's, because you statistically cannot. You would not get 265 Q's if you were way above the passing standard. You would have a shorter exam, proven your competency earlier and the exam would shut off. For 265 Q's you are close to passing. You hover around the line. (I assume you know all this, bu you continue to dispute it). The last question has to be above the passing line, and that is all... regardless if you answer it right or wrong. That is the pure fact. By NCSBN, Kaplan expert, and other reputable, verifiable sources. You also don't need to keep pointing out that I have not been successful yet on my NCLEX-RN Examination. This topic is considered closed.
  5. You are also wrong on the #265 Q. If its above the passing line you pass. If it is below the line, near the line, at the line or even on the line you fail. It does not need to be WAY ABOVE the line and the 95% confidence interval is not used when a candidate answers all 265 Q's. Again contact NCSBN if you require further clarification. Candidates who answer all 265 Q's, only Q#265 is looked at.
  6. Well if you could read English, you misunderstood. "You have misunderstood what Bloom's Taxonomy is, and how it works. You are telling people that getting SATA questions means they are at a higher level of questioning. THIS IS WRONG." I stated SATA are written at ALL levels. They are NOT a higher level Q, but they certainly can be. And # of SATA does not matter either. Also you're quite rude, I've read several of your posts and your comments make you sound nasty to be truthful. I also never said I was not the BEST authority but I have a lot of experience with the NCLEX-RN Examination. Everything stated in my comment above is accurate. Contact NCSBN for further detail if you need clarification.
  7. Just to clairify, you DO NOT need to be ABOVE PASSING STANDARD in all 8 categories to pass the NCLEX-RN Examination.
  8. I had a friend pass after her 8th time and today she is a RN, PhD....She is a great Nurse, professor and inspiration to all. NEVER give up. But do get focus and seek out tutors, remediation, etc. You can and will Pass.
  9. Okay so I feel like I need to set the record straight with getting all 265 NCLEX-RN Q's, and a few other things lol. You can Pass and Fail at 265. Let's look at Q#262 for example. If that question is just below or close to the passing line and 263, 264 & 265 are answered correctly or even if one incorrectly, that usually is enough to put #265 above the passing level and you Pass the examination. If for example #262 is well below the line and you get 263,264 & 265 it may not be enough to put you above the line and you Fail. #265 has to be above the passing line. That is all. Not ON/AT the passing line or near it or below it, but above it. For those who say "how the heck can the test be judged on one question?!" It is. Call Kaplan, Call your BORN, call NCSBN it's the fact. Another few facts is that "bolding" of words, (MOST, FIRST, INITIALLY) does not mean it is a higher level question. So myth busted! SATA (Select all that Apply) questions are NOT a higher (app/analysis) form of question. ALL ALTERNATE RESPONSE QUESTIONS INCLUDING SATA ARE WRITTEN AT ALL LEVELS OF BLOOM'S TAXONOMY. From recall/recognition to Application/Analysis. Advice: Know your Pharmacology, Infection control and PDA (Who do you see first, etc) because these are the two single largest portions of the exam. AND THEY ARE DIFFICULT. Remember, the Devil is sitting on every question at the test center staring at you! So FOCUS, DEEP BREATHE, TAKE A BREAK and two last pieces of advice: 1. Anticipate taking ALL 265 questions. Don't go in there casually all dolled up and thinking the computer will shut off at 75. It certainly might but prepare for the worst and hope for the best! 2. I'll leave you with this quote from a brilliant professional; "NCLEX is a great experience, but it's not worth repeating." -Barbara J. Irwin RN, MSN [Executive Director of Kaplan] Best of luck & may God be with you!
  10. Took my NCLEX RN 5th time today....all 265 Q's, Fail I'm more than certain. 1st time 265Q's, 2nd time 76 Q's, 3rd time 82 Q's, 4th time, 256Q's (ran out out of time), today, 265Q's.....Absolutely clueless. I did all of Kaplan and Hurst and LaCharity and did fairly well. Dont give up. I have no advice. Im at a huge loss but I'm 25, I'll keep doing the NCLEX until I pass. Idc if I'm 70 and get to work 1 day as a RN. Tombstone will read RN on it. :) Hang in there! Someone like me is in a similar/worse situation.
  11. I wholeheartedly prepared for NCLEX RN for the 5th time! YUP 5 TIMES! Did Kaplan & Hurst and LaCharity PDA 100%. Did well with Kaplan & Hurst. Had confidence and didn't go asystole when I clicked Next on Q#75...Took it today Saturday 4/18/15.....did all 265 questions.....I'm sure I failed. Cant do any PVT guess they score the exam 2x now, and not risking $200. My Q's were all over the place. No med calcs, lots of SATA, priority, who do you see 1st, a few ordered response, about 4 exhibit questions, at least 6 ekg strips, but then again a lot of like knowledge questions or so it seemed....1 MEDICATION I GOT ASKED 4x about (OMG) and I didnt know what it was...Holy Moses.....I am at a complete loss. It's weird nothing seemed really hard though. Like the topics/terms/questions I was like I know about this!, etc. I feel God does not want me to be a RN and I am sure there is good reason. Been through this more than once.. I know that to pass, Q#265 has to be above the passing line, regardless right or wrong. ugh, major let down. All I know is that Q#263,262,261 and maybe 262 were bolded (like MOST, FIRST, PRIORITY and the last 2 [264, 265] were not. Not sure if that makes a difference. End rant! I am just about homeless (house being foreclosed on), out of money, knee-high in debt, father dying, parents divorcing, jobless, just at a huge loss. Sad part is I'm 25.
  12. Thanks guys I should get my ATT today or tomorrow I was told. I read from a friend the earliest available date near me at Pearson is May 23 because my friend is taking his then. No way! I will be traveling a bit but that is fine! I pray when I gt to 75 I click next and the screen goes blue
  13. Hi, Im new to this but can share a relateable story. I dont think youre working too much. 1 day/week if that can keep you and your child above water, as a CNA (as I am one and underpaid) than more to you. Try to get any anxiety down. I almost failed my first semester too but I got a tutor who was an NP. Most community colleges offer tutors. Explore that because study sessions, etc are never really successful. For me it was quite distracting and always off topic. Study the notes and the "why" behind it. Dont memorize facts (and this will help when you DO pass in later semesters) [it all builds on previous semesters] Take out a sheet of blank white paper. BIG and BOLD write: I can do this! Hang it somewhere you can look at it every day. Confidence is 90% of it! Pharm is tough. Not sure about you but I did all my pre/co reqs before the start of the program so all I needed to do was Nursing 1, 2, 3, 4. IF you fail at something let it be Pharm. I wish you the best of luck, hang in there, I was on a similar path...but I graduated in December with my ADN! Focus, immerse yourself everyday. Open your book everyday. My best. -Steve
  14. haha that test was ridiculous! And thank you so much! wow 75 questions, congratulations that is an amazing feat! I'm scheduling as soon as I get my ATT....How was your QBank scores and QTrainers? How was your test? A lot of SATA? Thx!
  15. I finished ALL (100.0%) of Kaplan RN review. My Dx test was a 58. Readiness test was a 59 (=87.2% chance of passing). QT1: 59 QT2: 57 QT3: 53 QT4: 51 QT 5A: 62 QT 5B: 43 QT 6: 45 QT 7: 48 (Rushed this 100%) Sample Test 1: 54, #2 60, #3, 73, #4 26 (all SATA Q's) HORRIBLE! (cried) I did all 1,292 QBank Q's: [Cum. Avg. is 58.5%] I did Hurst online live review watched videos 2x, made a ton of notes. My weakest area is Basic Comfort & Care (amusing in a way...) I'm awaiting my A.T.T. and freaking out on what to do in the mean time. I want to test this month. Help/Advice PLEASE. I pray everyday I am successful. Trying to manage anxiety. My QBank scores were mostly 55-65% and did 60-75 at a time. I watched all the content videos and Question review videos (so helpful). Decision Tree is a MUST! Love you all! :) I emailed Kaplan Expert. They said take a break...I was like (omg no way!) But I do break 1 day/week and been at this since Feb 23. Graduated in December. Took January off. I feel like when I re-do wrong QBank Q's I just do good because I remember the info. It's hard to stay focused this far in the game. I feel confident though....ok end rant!
