  1. Good morning everyone, I also posted this question to "General Nursing." As a newly graduate nurse would working in hospice care right away be a bad idea? Hospice care is the reason why I decided to advance myself in nursing. Before graduating I worked as an LVN in long term care and absolutely loved the hospice aspect of it. My fear is if I start in hospice instead of med-surg that I may regret that decision later on. If in the future I would like to work in a different specialty would hospice care be a "bad" starting point? Thank you
  2. I am recently graduated as an RN BSN, and applying for work. My interests going into nursing has always been hospice care or home care. I'm concerned that going straight into hospice, without first working in Med-Surg, might hinder me in the future if I want to eventually work in a hospital. Can someone give me pointers or advice as to how to go about this?

Hey everyone, I was just curious if other people are in the same boat as I am in terms of wanting to talk to people about their day. No one in my family is in the healthcare field, and no one in my family can really understand what I'm always talking about. I find it a little bit frustrating to not necessarily have people in my life that can relate. Does anyone else feel this too?
  4. Thank you for posting this. I began my experience in nursing in a LTC facility and absolutely love it. I worked as a CNA and as an LVN at the same nursing home. I will be graduating with my RN BSN soon, and definitely will be happy to continue to work in LTC. I have also heard that this type of setting is a career ender. However, the skills that I have learned at the nursing home have (like you said), strengthened my assessment skills.
