  1. I would love to have some updates on how you are all doing with this decision as I am in the exact same boat. Work in women's health, love it, starting Frontier's WHCNP in Jan 2022, waffling about whether to do the FNP program! The only other thing I'm considering is that I would possibly love to be an NP at a college / school nursing. And I do love babies but really can't think of a job where an NP could care for newborns & Moms (at least where I live). How are all of you faring who grappled with this choice?
  2. LDRP ? - always get those letters mixed up
  3. Hello all! I'm 47. Just wanted to post my experience in case it is helpful. I graduated from nursing school in May 2018 (second career). I was fortunate - I did my practicum in LRDP at a local hospital - my dream job. They hired me in August 2018. I work 24/36, 3a-3p. I just wrapped up my L&D training (I was independent in post partum soon after starting). I can tell you - it's amazing if it's your passion. Sure, the hours are grueling and my back can hurt (holding a leg and twisting to chart for hours).... but so far, it's amazing. My idols on the unit are in their 60s (and actually they are of all ages if I'm being real). So it's doable!! I love my job - new nurse AND a hair past mid-life!!
  4. Hey all! I am in the Lewiston Cohort (graduating May '18) as well. I've been at USM (Portland campus) for a year doing prerequisites. I'm a 'non-traditional' (43) year old student with a family. I know four - five others from my classes at USM who are going to be in our cohort as well -- they are all great people. Congratulations! I've lived in Maine my whole life so message me if you have any questions about the area. :) Kate
