Is 61 too old to start Pre-Nursing?
I don't know how much nursing school costs where you live but I've paid over 40 000 in the past 4 years, while not having much time to work so I don't know if it would make financial sense to go to school at this point in your life. But I don't know your situation and how much longer you are planning to work. Wishing you the best, whatever you decide.

Self harm and NICU
I've applied to have my practicum in the NICU, so far I've only had the chance to be in the NICU once and it was amazing and I could really see myself working there one day. But the thing is they don't let you wear long sleeves for infection control reasons. And I have a long history of self harm. I no longer self harm but I have a lot of scars and they are noticable (they are white but they are plentiful and thick). Normally in clinical I wear a long sleeve shirt underneath and roll it up for patient care but they don't allow it in the NICU. Do you think I could still be a NICU nurse? I am worried parents and mangers will think I am too mentally unstable for the job.

Why do *some* people hate nurses/nursing students?
Lately I've heard a lot of hate on nurses/nursing students and I'm not sure why. I thought a profession where you are helping the public would be respectable. Any ideas?

Does anyone have practice IV medication questions that they can give me?
Hello I am in my third year of nursing in a Canadian school and I was wondering if anyone knows where I can find some more practice questions. Specifically I am looking for intermittent IV medication calculation questions. My school provided some but I have finished them all and am looking to do more to get a better grasp of the mathematics. I have access to a monograph I just need questions to do.

Did I do the right thing?
I'm in my second year of nursing and on my first med-surg rotation. Today was my first day doing the care of one patient by myself. My patient went for a lung function test and when she came back, they took her off the oxygen saying she didn't need it anymore. I noticed she was shivering and got her a warm blanket and the shivering nearly disappeared. But not long later I noticed that she was still feeling very cold so I took her vitals and her oxygen had fallen to 81% so I put her back on O2 to get her oxygen back to the goal the doctor had for her 88-89%. Her temperature was 36.1. I told my buddy nurse about the situation and asked for some advice or if she could check on her because I was worried but she just told me to put her to bed and give her a warm blanket which I had already done. (I actually gave her about 5 and she still was cold) I was feeling very worried like I had not done everything possible to help my patient but my buddy and the charge nurse did not seem to be very concerned so was I over reacting? What could I have done better?
