Kennesaw State University Spring 2016
Haha my brain is still swimming from all the information and things I still have left to do! I would have guessed around 100 or so, but I was also in the front of the room.

I think they took it down from the site (no idea why though).

The email last week said there would be no more correspondence through the mail....that email IS the orientation packet. :-) HTH!

We can't wear them as first year student so I'll save my money for now. If I want them later on I can always order them, but the white ones are the ones we have to wear to clinicals.

I chose the online version. There are pros and cons to both sections so yoy just have to go with what works best for you. I work best at my own pace and having kids at home, I wanted to be able to dictate when I did the course material. I've also been told the in class section tests are very difficult and all the writing for our final paper is done towards the end of the semester, rather than throughout. I know I'm in for much more busy work with the online class though.

I had my flu shot and TDaP as well as titers done a couple weeks ago. Just one blood draw for the three titers (though they messed up my Chickenpox titer so I have to go back in for more blood). Definitely worth getting it done so if there is any issue with the titers, vaccines can be given at my physical next month :-)

No email yet that I've seen. But if you go to the ksu nursing website then go to clinicals...requirements....you can see a list of things you will need to have done. Some of it you can't do until 30 days before our first day of classes, but getting your boosters and cpr and such...that's doable.

I was under the impression they mailed out all the letters at the same time, which was in September. Is it possible they think you are talking about the email we will all receive by the end of November that details what needs to be brought to orientation and what paperwork we need to fill out? Are you a KSU student? If you are and you are in the program, you will have the nursing class overrides in your registration area of owlexpress.

Kennesaw State University Spring 2016
Yes :-) it's just the top 7 grades for your prerequisites
-
Kennesaw State University Spring 2016
Have you completed all the math and sciences? If so...it should be all As (they will only see your top 5 grades) of that makes sense. I would personally retake the teas if it were me...but it really depends on the pool of applicants they have. Good luck!

My major has been changed to nursing-accelerated as well! The research class will only be for accelerated track folks so don't panic if you are traditional and didn't get it. You are still good :-) I'm anxious to get the email regarding orientation already...but no one's gotten that one right?

@mfree2016 Have you emailed Fran about it? They accepted my principles of sociology (aka intro to sociology) from my previous degree. When I asked her about it when they changed the course requirement to the 2105, she said it applied to the traditional track only. (I've been taking prerequisites at KSU since Jan 2014 and they just made this change last semester, but she said I didn't have to re-take the sociology prerequisite). So might be worth shooting her an email about it. :)

You can email the advisors and they are really good about getting back to you about what they see for each requirement. :-)

For the prerequisites you take your top 7 of the 12 grades and average it. Keep in mind they average the lab grades with the lecture grades (say someone has a C in a&p lab, but an A in lecture, there grade for that prereq ends up being a B). Do the same for the top 5 of 7 maths and sciences. 4 points for an A, 3 for Bs, and 2 for Cs. Hope this makes sense! And I was told the same thing...mid September. It seems not soon enough but also way too soon! Haha. I'm ready for the waiting to be over but also have this huge knot in my stomach about it.

KSU Nursing School
They combine the lecture and lab grades so you have a B for Micro as far as the nursing school sees. So even if you retake Micro lecture and make an A...they average the two lectures and its still a B. That's likely why advisement is saying don't retake. I think Fran said for the traditional its 4 As and 1B for those science/math prereqs and 3As and 2Bs for accelerated for averages of what is normally accepted to the program. So one B shouldn't make or break you. Hope this helps and good luck! I'm waiting to hear back for next semester :-)

Griffin? I think that's her name. There is only one Micro lecture I think so we are probably all in the same one!

I have Micro this fall too!

@BrittanyNycole I heard we should hear something by mid October at the latest.

Haha sorry! Its short hand for "hope that helps"

Kennesaw State University Spring 2016
I honestly think both tracks are pretty equally competitive. Praying hard that I get in! :-) I guess we will know in a couple months.

Kennesaw State University Spring 2016
Sarahscarn, yes you can be considered for traditional if you have a degree...but my understand is you can only apply to one or the other. Not sure though. They only accept 40 for accelerated because less people apply to that track than traditional. So I would not assume traditional is less competitive... They have more people applying for traditional than accelerated. At least that is my understanding. Jojo...Fran did a meet and greet with potential nursing students last semester and she explained that around 80 traditional and 40 accelerated are accepted in the Spring semesters. HTH!

Chemistry and A&P II
I didn't read the previous comments, but I took Organic Chem and A&P I (plus both labs) last semester. It was tough, I spent a lot of time studying and I rarely saw my family, but it was doable. I ended up with As in all classes. If I can do it with two kids under 5 years old and a household to run, I think anyone can :).

They look at your GPA in your 5/7 Math and Sciences (this weighs the heaviest). Then they look at your GPA in the 7/12 Prereqs. The last two factors are your cumulative GPA (which includes ALL credits earned, even if they don't count towards your nursing degree and any repeats you may have) and the TEAS score.
