  1. Hi Everyone! New grad here, interviewing at a few different hospitals, mostly neuro (adult) population but now (a little unexpected) have an interview for an amazing pediatric hospital in a neuro/endocrinology unit! I am super excited to have this opportunity but feel very unprepared compared to others interviews. During nursing school, I did not choose pediatrics as any of my rotations as precepted time, so was only exposed to peds during the 4 week rotation with a group. As far as outside of school kid experience, I have been a full time nanny and babysat whenever possible, and briefly worked as a school aide for after school activities. I feel as though they will probably drill me with questions as to why I love pediatrics, and while I do, I don't have that one inspiring story or instance to make myself stand out. I guess I am just looking for some advice on typical pediatric-focused questions I can expect and possibly some suggestions how to approach these questions Thank you!
  2. I have set up an interview for neuro/endo! Best of luck to everyone : )
  3. Anyone applied for Rush RN1 positions and heard anything too?
  4. I applied may 1st and saw the application closed up already. I have not heard back yet
  5. What are typical/most common procedures that require a patient to get contrast dye? Also, what are the precautions beforehand and possible implications afterwards?
  6. Hi! I am a bit confused about a specific situation at clinical. My preceptor and I had to get cultures for a patient in the ICU. We were going to find a spot to stick to collect the blood and my preceptor said "look in the radial area". I asked if we needed a tourniquet and he said no, not for an art stick. I am confused how I would know this is an artery that I am drawing from? If I were to put in an IV, I would feel that spot and assume it was a vein? Please help! Thank you!
  7. Hi there, I am from chicago and was also recently accepted into this program. I made a facebook page so that it might be easier to communicate with recently accepted students. Look up "SLU AMSN 2015" on facebook and you can join the group!
