  1. Chadday- it really sounds like your academic background has been up to par to this point and by the way it sounds it will continue to be that way. I think that I used to feel the same way about school, very anxious and always thinking what if I dont get an A. This way of thinking drove me crazy and not to mention my family crazy. It was really unhealthy. I too have had the goal of becoming a CRNA since the start of my nursing education. I am happy to say that I did get accepted to the program of my choice, starting in January. I did recieve 3 Bs in undergrad and still got accepted. I have even taken 10 graduate classes and have recieved a B in three of them. Just make sure you continue to get As and Bs, start in an ICU, GRE 1000 or better, apply to a couple of schools, and you should have no problems. Take a deep breathe and chill or you will become a person no one wants to be around. Good Luck.:)
  2. I was also in your shoes until a couple of days ago. I was actually accepted to one program in September and just got accepted to my first choice. I must say it is a huge relief just knowing. I tried not to think about it every minute of the day (almost impossible.) It did help for me to remind myself that it would not be the worst thing in the world if I didnt get in, much worse things could happen. You still have options for next year if you do not get in and if you do congratualtions. Good luck to you! If you dont mind me asking...Where did you apply?
  3. I had an interview for the CRNA program at Rush University in Chicago. I havent heard back yet. Is there anyone who has? Thanks.
  4. Karla, I want to say that I think it is wonderful that you are interested and motivated to learn more about this career. These are qualities (along with many others) that will help you achieve your goal of becoming a CRNA. My advice is dont count your chickens before they hatch-meaning while it is great you want to learn more about being a CRNA, you first need to learn about nursing and acutally get your BSN. Becoming an RN is a challenge in itself. These are years you wont want to take for granted. They will serve as the base of your clinical experience. One thing you could do is to find a mentorship program that will allow you to follow a nurse around for a day. See if you like nursing first before you decide to be a CRNA. You really need to know what your drive to be a CRNA is-money, nursing status, education? In my opinion the people who choose this career based on money are in the wrong profession-you have peoples lives in your hands everyday. Also remember that you are looking at at least 5-6 years before entering into a CRNA program (must get BSN and have Critical Care experience first). While working to achieve your goals remember to enjoy these years of your life. Good luck and Feel free to respond.
  5. Congratulations!! Good to hear from you. I will be new to the area, I am currently in Chicago. I think I am going to try out campus housing at first. I was very happy when I got the letter, I couldnt believe it. I thought I would just apply and see what happens, I didnt really excpect too much but was pleasantly surprised. I do not know anything about the area so if you hear anything pass it on. See you soon.
  6. Hello everyone, this is my first time posting. I was just accepted to Duke Universitys CRNA program. I was wondering if anyone has any advice for places to live around or on campus, and about the program in general. Is there anyone else out there that has been accepted for Jan 06? Thanks.
