  1. Yeah, but did you like it? It's sick to think about, it really is. But I love watching that crap...lol.
  2. Would someone explain how to delete this particular post above please? I meant to attach it to a previous comment. TIA
  3. Oh my. You had me at Dr Who. I love that show......along with some boneless, buffalo wings and bleu cheese...or potato chips....and peanut M&M's (I save the dark brown ones for last).
  4. Oh my geezers. I love that stuff on Youtube. I could watch them popping cysts, lancing boils and extracting blackheads for hours on end. I have no idea why I find it so fascinating.

  6. ...about that name tag thing. The company machine is still broken.
  7. Wow, I had no idea that this would bring so many responses; but I am glad that it did. Rest assured that I do not work outside of my scope of practice nor do I even remotely consider myself a Nurse. I have corrected my client many times on it; but he still insists he understands but that he calls me that; because he sees me more than his real Nurse. I hope that my asking didn't cause hard feelings on the board; I was just curious.
  8. I think that now the only thing that makes me gag is the smell of C-Diff stools. Though I do remember, being sent to a hall where a resident was actively in the process of passing. I have a few things that irk me, bad mouth and naval care. So I went in to check on this one resident and went to clean her mouth. When I did, I swear the secretions were in a solid sheet on the roof of her mouth. It made me gag and I got ticked off big time. Granted, she may not have been able to tell what was going on; but I know if it would have been uncomfortable for me, it stood to reason it would be for her too.
  9. I think that Southern said it best; you just love them through it. It does get easier as each one passes. In time you'll even find a moment to laugh about something silly that one of your deceased residents did or said and it will bring good memories to you. There's nothing wrong with a few tears.
  10. I can honestly say that you do get used to it. Some good advice my instructors told me about was to use Vicks Vaporub in your nostrils. I didn't really need it past the first few days, as I generally have a cast iron stomach. But I can honestly say that the smell of C-Diff, did make me gag. It just has it's own smell...No worries, you'll be great.
  11. I love my job as a CNA. I work in Home Healthcare myself and it seems to fit me best. I worked from 2008-2012 in LTC and hated almost every minute of it. I couldn't stand the 'herd' mentality that was expected. Our residents were so cheated because we couldn't spend much time with them. Often when we were short staffed; we would have 30+ residents per CNA to care for. This included everything from waking them in the morning, dressing, showers, serving trays, assisting in feeding...all of the normal CNA duties. Most days I would sit in my car at the end of the day and cry out of frustration and feeling like such a failure. I always did my charting off the clock; because there was never enough time to do it on the clock. In Home Health, it is so much better. I actually have the opportunity to treat my clients as they deserve to be treated, not like cattle that I need to get 'in and out' in 3.2 minutes. I have also learned some awesome things; like dig stem. I think it's worth it; if for nothing but life experience. HTH
  12. MrChicago. I can say that he has his moments. According to his care plan he is A&O3. He has been more forgetful lately. I like the Goofy part. It's definitely descriptive of my personality. lol
  13. I do correct my client and he says that he understands. But he calls me his nurse because I see him more than his real nurse does. It does drive me nuts though. Should I pursue it by the higher ups, so that it doesn't get me into trouble?
  14. Greetings all. I have a weird question for ya'll. I work in Home Healthcare as a CNA and often my clients call me a Nurse. I have no idea why, but it irks me. I don't even remotely consider myself a Nurse. I may have begun that journey, but chickened out and haven't pursued it. So my question; when did you consider yourself a Nurse? Were you in school, working as a Nurse or even working as a CNA or the like? Just curious. S
  15. Hi Trebleclef. I'm a newbie on the board and am only a CNA. But what I can say is; I think it's worth it, if it's something that you want bad enough. When we lose a family member, it changes who we are. We have a tendency to over-think ourselves and our decisions. I would say to go for it. Consider taking your pre-req's at a community college if they're available there. That way the out of pocket costs are lower. Then when the time is right, continue on to your Nursing Degree. I think it will do you good. You have worked hard to pay off the medical bills and raising your child; consider further educating yourself as a reward. Just go with the flow and in time things will figure themselves out. I am sorry for your loss dear one. Good luck; you're going to be an awesome nurse.
