can RN order another RN to bring medicine for a client prescribed by physician
Does the newly hired RN have her own patients to look after? Is she asking for a favor to help her out? Did you actually see the order written or electronically ordered for the patient? She can't order you to do anything, she can ask you? Unless you are in a code situation then if she is running the code she can order you. Need more info, is she your orientee?

Phlebotomy & EKG
Hi Amy, If you have NO experience in patient care I don't see it as a waste of time, you work part-time as a CNA in the Hospital you are hoping to someday work Full-Time in as a RN ! You will already have your "in"... As far as the EKG part , absolutely will be needed, there is no doubt and you will have an edge on your fellow classmates as long as you keep it up front and center. Check out the article Nursing exams keep pace with healthcare tech advances, about the updates coming to NCLEX exams featured in Marketplace for Tech for Tuesday, April 2, 2015 by Kate Casey EKG strips will now be part of NCLEX, to me this is new news but perhaps the student nurses already know this information. The National Council of State Boards of Nursing will be introducing new updated tests this month which they do every 3 years. "We've just seen technological revolution in medicine and nursing," says Susan Sanders, Vice President of Kaplan Nursing, who has been a nurse for 34 years. According to Casey (2013), nurses must now read the latest digital record system and interpret data from state-of-the-art devices. They will be shown a 6 second strip of a heart rhythm and be asked if your patient was showing this on the monitor, what would you do? I just finished my BSN and am searching for somewhere to get Certified in EKG rhythms because the marketplace is requiring nurses who can read EKG's as part of the requirements. They want nurse's who are ACLS certified and in order to pass that test one must be able to read 4-6 different heart rhythms. It should be part of the curriculum now! Casey, K., (2013). Asking for prayers: multiple nursing students died in car accident
Hi, I just saw this on my Verizon Home Page, my heart breaks for these individuals and families. The first thlng that came to mind is the innocence a student nurse has as they strive for their Degree's. To me most nurse's are Angels on Earth, I immediately felt God couldn't wait for these special Angels and wanted them home now. They have more important work to do in heaven, though we are the one's who are left devastated by this type of tragedy. My prayers and heart felt condolences to the families and their fellow students.

Telemetry Certification
I am new to allnurses and I really appreciate your quick response, after researching the criteria for taking and passing the ACLS (basic interpretation of 4-5 different EKG strips) I have decided to take a EKG class either on-line or in person. Then I will take the ACLS, I want some kind of edge in the Boston Nurse Job Market, at least having the ACLS may help, anything is worth a try, but I really do feel Telemetry Certification is a necessity in today's job market. Seems every job out there requires it. I found a National Telemetry Association they say they are credentialed, but I am not convinced. I do not trust many of these sites. I thought Boston would be full of places being both the hospital and education center of the US ! Marina
