Does anyone currently attend Laboure College for their nursing program?
HI, Just wanted to add some input. I saw you said that Laboure was 30,000 total. I don't know who gave you that price but that is NOT the case. The nursing courses alone are 10,000 each - and you have to take 4, so thats 40,000 right there. And unless you did all your gen eds somewhere else (and some you have to take at the school) the total is more like 50,000-60,000. I graduated there May 2014.

Telemetry Certification
Hi Marina, I was not able to find any good certification courses. What I heard from most of the nurses working on telemetry floors is that the hospital sends you to a course there to be certified. They suggest having your ACLS and PALS if applying to telemetry floors. Hope this helps.

Hospitals hiring new grads these days?
As a new grad myself I searched high and low for places that would take ASN new grads. I worked at a hospital as an aide and still they wouldn't take me because I did not have a bachelors (even though I was enrolled in a BSN program). Concord hospital does take ASN new grads but I talked to HR and they were taking mostly internal candidates. My advice would be don't get to hung up on being in a hospital setting only. I was really stubborn and only applied to hospitals for 6 months. I finally took a job at a short stay rehab and I feel that I am getting good experience, I have IVs, drains, post-ops - admins/ discharges; all things that you come out of school barely knowing how to do. I regret not taking a job like this sooner, I could have had 10 months RN experience under my belt and be able to marketable for hospital positions, instead I only have 4 months because I waited. Best of luck in your search !!

Jobs in Boston
Like the others have mentioned, having your BSN makes a huge difference. As a new grad myself it took me about 6 months to find my first position, and I am at a rehab. Hopefully I can move into a hospital after I get a year of experience under my belt. I would not waste your time applying to the major hospitals in downtown, they normally want some experience, and when they do hire new grads it's normally internally or because they did their clinicals there. Try community hospitals, Steward owned hospitals are taking some new grads/ minimal experience. However, I have found that the majority of the hospitals are filling the few new graduate positions they have with internal employees. This is probably one of the worst areas to be a new graduate nurse, look at rehab hospitals. Best of luck, I know how frustrating it is.

Telemetry Certification
Hi, Does anyone know a place around here where you can get telemetry certified. A lot of jobs that I have been applying to require it, but when I look I can't seem to find a place to acquire it. I know a lot of hospitals certify their employees, but I need a certification outside of that. I also wanted to get my critical care certification if anyone knew the right place to go through for that. Thanks everyone !!
