UNLV SON Fall 2015
Yay! Hopefully we'll start getting ours as well. :) Are you guys sewing your own patches on or are you taking them to a seamstress or something? Also just for clarification, the patch goes on the left sleeve correct?

UNLV SON Fall 2015
I just received an auto-response email saying my card was charged. Hopefully shipping is fast!
-
UNLV SON Fall 2015
Yeah, I wasn't charged either. I was in the second orientation, so I wonder if that makes any difference. I'm definitely calling tomorrow because we ordered them over a month ago. That's ridiculous.

UNLV SON Fall 2015
Mine says submitted as well, so I emailed them. I'll keep you posted on their response.

UNLV SON Fall 2015
Well, it looks like we've been enrolled in our classes and my balance for the semester says about $5,800, without any financial aid.

UNLV SON Fall 2015
Here's the link for the access code: https://evolve.elsevier.com/cs/product/9780323100540?role=student It's about $64 on it's own, the package (hardcover and access code) through Elsevier is $182. I think I paid $50 for the book, so even buying the access code seperately it's a little bit saved. Oh and I still haven't found any all white shoes I like. :/
-
UNLV SON Fall 2015
I think there's only one access code as well, it goes with the Fundamentals of Nursing book, but the price I got it used, plus the access code still came out cheaper than buying a brand new book. Yeah, I actually sat down and read the list again and it's no much. I've finished most of it, just waiting on my doctor's appointment and I'm doing the CPR class next week. I think other cohorts started Facebook pages to stay organized, anybody interested in creating one?

UNLV SON Fall 2015
@Bianca seriously! I may have to find a PT job or something, I don't have the exact numbers, so I'm not sure how much I'm going to have to come out of pocket, but it's looking tough with normal bills plus anything that may come up that's school-related. @Cierra, they haven't charged me either. Has anyone been enrolled in their classes? I know during the information session she said they would do it for us, but I don't remember when she said she would do it. Once they enroll us in the classes I will have a better idea of how much I will need to come out of pocket every month for a payment plan.

UNLV SON Fall 2015
@LV1327 Okay, I'll probably wait on getting that as well. @Jessi thanks, I'll look into it. How's everybody's to do list coming along? I just looked at the checklist again and I have lots to get done, I just scheduled the CPR and Physical Exam.
-
UNLV SON Fall 2015
Yeah, as I looked deeper into used books. I've found that I can get everything for about $400 excluding the Nursing Consultant, since I'm not sure what that is. Is it a website or another app? LV1327: if you have any websites or suggestions, do tell. :) Jessi: Where do you volunteer?

UNLV SON Fall 2015
Yeah, haven't made up my mind yet, the ebook option as well sounds great, but never really purchased ebooks before. So I'm not sure, if it's something I'll like or not. Definitely something to look into, thanks! :)

UNLV SON Fall 2015
I think I was a bit overwhelmed with the realization that I probably will be stressed for the next 17 months haha. My bank account needs a hug as well. The background and the 3 pair of scrubs were almost $300 (at least for me). I just pulled out the booklist and the bundle is $784. So, I'm looking into the used option now. If it helps anyone else, I made a little list: Potter: Fundamentals of Nursing 8th: 9780323079334 Nursing Skills Online Version 3.0 (Access Code): Elsevier website Jarvis: Physical Examination & Heath Assessment 7th: 9780323265416 Lilley: Pharmacology and the Nursing Process 7th: 9780323087896 Huether: Understanding Pathophysiology 5th: 9780323078917 Ackley: Nursing Diagnosis Handbook 10th: 9780323085496 Silvestri: Saunders Comprehensive Review 6th: 9781455727551 Mosby's Nursing Consult: ?

Am I the only one who needed a hug after the information session?

UNLV SON Fall 2015
Hey guys, it's been a busy 2-weeks for me. I took my HESI and did pretty well, I wanted to do better, but I won't complain. If my calculations are correct I have about 90.7 points. I hope everyone is doing well, I'll be praying for us. :)

UNLV SON Fall 2015
@UNLVH... I want to say it's the higher score of the two, but definitely double check! @Nkrz... Good luck! :)
-
UNLV SON Fall 2015
@Eem congrats 97.28 is a great score, I'm sure you'll be one of the first to receive a call. @UNLVHopeful I agree, I always thought Fall had the most applicants, maybe a lot of students haven't had their signing sessions as of yet. Congratulations on your score as well, I think you'll be above the cutoff according to previous semesters, but it won't hurt to establish a little more wiggle room! @nkrz I think you have a good score, maybe right at the cutoff though, but you're right 3 months isn't long to wait at all.

UNLV SON Fall 2015
Thanks so much. I do have the review book, so I'll make sure to do the practice tests as well. I'm excited to get it over with and figure out my points. I also scheduled it with enough time to retake if I'm truly unhappy with the score. So I'll figure it out. Are you applying to any other schools or just UNLV?

UNLV SON Fall 2015
I really didn't want to be this person. Meaning the one who makes/follows a blog for the cohort they're applying for. Only because I'm usually a carefree person and I know this will only cause anxiety. Anyways, we're about a month away from the deadline, how exciting! Good luck to all of those applying. :) I can't post my full points yet, since I'm still a week away from taking the HESI, but if anyone would like to share their points, please do. Also, if anyone wants to provide any tips for the HESI, that would be great as well. I called and scheduled a signing session today and wanted to share some information with those who may have procrastinated, like myself. There are 5 days left with spots available: June 4th, June 18th, June 19th, June 25th and June 26th and majority of these only have 2 spots available. So, if you have not yet done so, definitely call and schedule your appointment. I look forward to getting to know those applying and hopefully starting a new journey with you guys come Fall. :)

UNLV summer 2015 Nursing
Hey all, Have you guys started getting call backs as of yet? I'm looking to apply for Fall '15, so I'm crossing my fingers for you guys, I'll be in your shoes very soon. I read a few past threads, it seems like fewer people are participating on allnurses these days. Anyways, I'm preparing for my HESI so if anyone has any tips/study-guides they would like to share, I would love that!
