thank you. Really my thinking there was I just would love to be working as a nurse in 2 years vs a nurse in 5, but I am pretty sure that PIMA is not nationally accredited and that to me is what makes it a no.

Hello everyone. I currently am starting my journey to become a nurse (finally). My original plan was to attend a community college and finish all pre an co reqs for their CEP program (you get your associates and then your BSN online with a university) the CEP program comes out to around 27k, not including the pre and co reqs (altogether possibly around 33k). My friend whom is also on the same journey has founded that Pima Medical Institute (we live in Arizona) now has an RN program that has the pre reqs included, all completed within 24 months. This program would come out to around 44k and is only an associates, but I feel that I am willing to pay that just to get my degree sooner and can enroll in a RN-BSN bridge while I am getting actual experience at a hospital. What are your thoughts? My personal main issue is that online for PIMA they only have stated that they have accreditation through the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) through the. U.S. Department of Education (DOE). What about ACEN or ccne, I am unsure if they are, but I do know they are relatively new so maybe that plays a role in this. Is the shorter time span to becoming an RN worth the risk of attending a non accredited school? I'm unsure if they are just awaiting approval or what. I have high hopes of doing more within time, whether that be NP or Midwife I am unsure. Any advise would be so so appreciated. I sincerely am being enticed by the shorter amount of time but have major concerns. Has anyone here attended PIMA (not tuscon). thank you![/COLOR]

I'm a Mormon. What exactly are you trying to write about? End of life practices. Do you mean what we believe after death?

I am married and we both have income and she told me to try ahcccs, which I found weird because if you make to much on healthcare.gov then obviously you make to much for ahcccs lol. And yes I have been told about asking for a discount. I guess I am just stressed. I am going to tour this birthing center next week, do you think asking them for a self pay discount is inappropriate since its not a hospital?

I currently live in Arizona, and work as a waitress to support the family while I attend school etc. I literally cannot find health insurance. My work has insurance that's a JOKE and I make waaaayyyyy to much (lol) for ahcccs and did not qualify for healthcare.gov.... Its all so weird and mind boggling to me. I was hoping someone here would have some insight on what to do? Currently I pay as I go...when my son needs shots or a checkup its 65$ and for example his poor little wrist came out of place the other week and it was 350$ doctors visit to have it placed back in. STILL cheaper than insurance through my work LOL but I know its important to have in case anything huge and life threatening were to happen. I'm currently pregnant...so now I'm like well crap. I called a birthing center and they want around 3k for the whole shabam, which doesn't sound to bad actually. (Still cheaper than insurance sadly). I would appreciate any thoughts on this! Also if any of you have an opinion on birthing centers being a good choice. Thank you!

I agree with you in a way that I think that anyone in a health profession should set a good example and show the patients the way to health. I feel that nurses...doctors...etc all should keep their health up to date and try to be in shape. Being in shape helps stress, helps physical fatigue, helps your body handle the crazy hours, we need good foods and nutrition to help our minds be on top and be focused. If people are offered that's because it can be hurtful but I feel this subject would of hurt feelings no matter how it was worded. Best thing you can do in my opinion is be fit and healthy and inspiring as you can, and help your coworkers out as best you can and hopefully it helps people go from there...maybe bring in homemade protein bars to give staff a little healthy pick me up so they can feel the difference of energy from good nutrition vs donuts, pizza, high sugar snacks etc.... I don't feel you were being super judgmental just wondering why so many people who want to work in health aren't necessarily healthy. Well from what I have learned is people who have never been on top of their physical and nutritional health, simply do not understand and just feel attacked.

Thank you! I agree but just wanted to hear some advice from people who have experience. I have to work full time, and I am a mother so I will attempt to do this online and at a community college. Do you feel that cc degrees are overlooked by employers compared to others?

Would you please give me advice? Do you believe it is a better decision to just get a bachelor's degree or to earn an associates, become an RN and then find a job and hopefully receive tuition assistance from the hospital to earn your bsn while working?

Also. Don't you think me taking to initiative to ask actual nurses is doing proper research?

I know it's easy to skim a question and just assume what I was asking, but I was asking for reassurance from bitter nurses I have spoken to about nursing. I was told and criticized these things. Not what I personally felt. Like I said I don't mind dirty work at all, but I felt discouraged when it was made out to be only a glamorized ass wiper. Thank you for your response. And I am starting school soon, because I feel I am chosen to be a nurse.

Any advice would be wonderful! I've recently excepted the fact that I feel nursing might be for me. I love the thought of working to nurse patients to health, helping families, working hard and being busy and not sitting all day. I love how I felt by nurses that have helped me in my hospital stays. I am just afraid because I have met people bitter about nursing... saying it's all politics and you're treated with zero respect and basically are a glamorized bed pan changer. Is nursing only cleaning up patients and getting abused? From what I knew I thought there was more "action". I don't want to go through this huge deal of going to school and working my tail off to achieve the degree when I have small children if the career isn't what it's cracked up to be. I suppose I am just nervous. Can anyone give me advice? Is nursing more than bed pans and being demeaned? Is it worth it? I can handle the dirty work, but I guess I just want to be reassured that as A nurse I will be more than a servant and someone who makes educated decisions and makes a difference. also, do you believe this is a good career for a family woman? I'm hoping to still be able to properly mother my babies and be an intimate wife to my husband. I don't want to never see my family. Please don't think I am being negative I am just trying to receive reassurance from the negative advice and commentary I have received.
