  1. 10 to 12 a day?!?!?!?! Not realistic at all especially for a new nurse. I'd say 8 or less a day at first and maybe only 6 until you get charting down. HH nursing is in the feild seeing pt, travel time, and then charting time. So you could be working 8 am till 8 pm everyday finishing up work etc. Time management is huge in HH nursing too. I'm a new grad and I'm finding starting in home setting is hard for blood draw and port care. I was an lvn for 7 years prior and have tons of Wound care, drains, Wound vacs, catheters, etc. But not blood draws and Central line care or iv meds for that matter in reached out for help but I have been kinda ignored in feel like I'm on my own. I only wasn't able.to draw one person so far (91 year old female dementia) she was not.cooperative to day the least. I hope they support you!
  2. I get hourly wage (palliative care nurse here). But I know the HH nurses love.per visit pay. They can manipulate their schedule and fit a lot in one day light the next. I say if money isn't an issue happiness is prefered. I only work 4 days a week and 8 hour days I could.work 5 days and get 40 hours but it's just not worth the extra money to me.
  3. I feel great on a lot of skills but I am horrible at IV skills, blood draws, implanted port care, and picc care. I know practice makes perfect but it's nerve racking going out solo without an extra pair of eyes to make sure I'm doing good technique. I asked management if I could follow someone but no one responded to help me out. I'm just not good at it! I'm great with everything else! Wound care, catheters, drains, Wound vacs, peg tubes, pleurex drains for lungs and abd. Any tips to help me out? I know practice makes perfect but it's stressing me out. What if I can't get blood draws a lot of the time? Do you have a hard time? Any advice?
