  1. Hello, I need advice, tips and help please. I recently passed my NCLEX back in February for the state of NEW YORK. Its already May and I haven't gotten a call back from anybody. I apply at least to 30 jobs a day. I am struggling because I don't have nursing experience. I also have my associates, currently enrolled for my bachelors at chamberlain University for BSN. I am 22 years old so I really don't have experience in the medical field of like 5,10,15 years - only 4 years of retail store and working at a summer camp. So instead of just moping around and keep doing the same thing over and over, I want to re strategize everything. I must be doing something wrong. Any tips? I am thinking of applying to do volunteer work at hospitals or clinics for experience. Besides volunteer work is there anything else anybody recommends me to do please? thanks Any input would be greatly appreciated. I also look forward to becoming a traveling nurse at some point if the opportunity comes up. Does anybody know of any places I can apply for that as well? Thank you for taking you time to read. Any recommendation would be helpful.
  2. It's okey. Whatever helps you best. Best of luck :) Nat, RN - Believe in Yourself!
  3. I know many people who were in the same situation and passed and are now RN's. It's possible with a a lot of hard work. I think it's best if you go over how you study and see what you can change, check what is working for you and what is not. Me personally -- I realized flash cards didn't help me. I thought it did. Instead I bought a book called med surg for success and another book with Nclex questions for many topics. After I would read a chapter (so long those chapters), I would do the questions on the back... And also do questions on the other books for the topics that are going to be on the test. After doing so many questions, they started looking the same. I learned that you can't memorize. It's about understanding the content and once you know it you automatically will know the signs and symptoms. Doing questions helped me cause I had to learn to critically think and the questions help you do that and read the rationales. Also if you have a friend that is hard working and dedicating like you maybe you can read to each other the PowerPoints and stuff - that helps too. Don't give up :) Nat, RN - Believe in Yourself!
  4. So how are you liking Sounder's book? Honestly lol Nat, RN - Believe in Yourself!
  5. Congrats!!!!! Well Done!! Hard work did pay off. lol!! so happy for you… now go be the best RN you can be :)
  6. Congrats :) So happy for you and yesss!!! its very normal to feel that way (i felt that way long ago). back when i was in nursing school, many colleagues were single mothers balancing school and work. they did great. now they are very successful RN's. Its not an easy road but its all worth it in the end!! i wish you the best of luck and congrats… pray.. breathe..be happy. :)
  7. thank you for the info and details :)
  8. honestly i learned not to listen or pay attention to all those myths and rumors about the test. i passed @110 questions (i thought i failed cause i never heard of anybody stopping @110). i was so scared when i first took it because everybody had something different to say about the test. and the more i heard stuff the more anxious i got. instead right after i took my test whether i passed or failed i went home and saw game of thrones:laugh: hahaha. and waited for two days without even doing the trick. it sucks to wait … as patiently as you are…but my best advice is to ignore everything you've ever heard. and just know you tried your best and that you gave it your best shot. just stay positive. be confident. and i am sure you passed !!! if you really want to know just pay the fee for early results.
  9. hi! i know somebody that was out of school for about the same amount of time or longer (possibly 4 years). they studied for like 2 months. they said saunders comprehensive nclex review helped them a lot . I recently passed as well and i used saunders, it is a good book. It has everything you need and it explains it in simple terms. To wrap it up hurst helped. Hurst is amazing for content as well. I think those two will help you a lot. and an app if you have a smart phone called nclex mastery. you should be fine and i know for sure you will pass.
  10. Congrats!!! All the best!!!
  11. thanks so much, hopefully soon i'll find a job :)
  12. thank you so much, glad to help!
