  1. THIS According to you: If I think someone's opinion is unrealistic or bizarre or silly and I can clearly think of major flaws with it, then why should I respect it? I found it very bizarre to make a diagnosis about a doc you don't know in person. For me is pretty brave I was polite too and I only tried to express my opinion openly. I don't support violence in communication but I do know there are peacefully ways to handle it. According to you: He's probably older, he's had 8+ years of training, plus however long he's actually been working as a doctor.... I do not mock you. It was just silly to diagnose a person you really don't know. That's all.

  3. Wow opalbee, CNA, You have a PhD in Psychology and another one in the Law. Man, I am jealous.
  4. Hi macawake, I think you totally misinterpreted my message. I am not suggesting that we should accept the angry behavior, but instead try to understand the reason behind it. We all like to be treated in a respectfully way, but you will be miserable if you expect others to be nice and respectful all the time. There will be times when people will lose their temper either at work or privately. We are human. Unfortunately, there are many who don't have the emotional intelligence to control their anger, but this does not mean they are bad people. They simply don't know how to express themselves without yelling or using hurtful words. To answer aggression with aggression isn't the best solution to fix the issue, instead try to talk to the person calmly face to face and express your needs for respect and professional behavior. And if this does not help and the person continues to dehumanize YOU then I suggest bringing it up to another person on the stuff. This is a personal view based on my 7 years experiences in the medical field. We don't have to agree. I respect your opinion and I expect you to respect mine.
  5. NurseCARD, I agree with your advice but not with your insult. Please avoid to judge people. So, if a patient gets mad at you and yells, are you going to call him also a .....? I really feel sad about your judgment.
  6. Hi NewbieNurse93, ASN, RN, You must felt hurt and in pain by your doctor's anger outbursts. I really do feel you but I am going to give an advice and hopefully will help you in the future to maintain a healthy and respectful atmosphere at your work place. Please, please try always to communicate your needs directly with the person you are interacting with. You could explain to the doc in charge why Pt xy needed to be charged today instead of waiting another day due to her need to be....... whatsoever... if this does not help then nothing you can do about it. You could go back to the Pt and let her know that you tried your best and apologize for the inconvenient. I do understand why your doc reacted that way, I am not saying is right but I do empathize with his anger. He was trying to tell you behind his anger ''I feel disrespected and not taken seriously for my decisions as a doc.''. He is not a jerk like people insulted him, he is just does not know how to express his needs in a respectful manner. Many people they do not know how to use the non-violent communication instead to communicate what we want, we say what we don't want. In conclusion, try to feel empathy for people who may react the way, you won't like it because they don't know better. They are raised like this and you won't be able to fix it. Next time, try to communicate open and honest with your doctors and colleagues it will save you a lot of drama. I am glad that you apologized to him so, it means that you recognized what you did wrong. God bless!
  7. Hi dogunrinde, How your interview went? Is the first semester in nursing hard?
  8. Hi, I wish you the best of luck with your application to UF BSN. I just want to mention that UF do not required TEAS. It seems you have experiences in the medical field definitely win plus. QUOTE=sgennno;9692739]Hi guys ! I am a transfer student applying to UF BSN 2018. I am graduating this semester with my AA and all my pre-reqs done. I am really nervous about UF because I know it is a highly competitive school but the program is so great I am going to apply and do my best. I am going to share my stats for you guys GPA: 3. 45 Pre-Req GPA: 3. 40 TEAS: 87% I also work in the ER of a hospital as a Medical Scribe for almost a year now and I have done study abroad for health sciences and health care community service in 4 different countries...hopefully this helps my chances of getting accepted. My GPA is lower than I would like but my TEAS score isn't bad (even though it isn't mandatory for UF I still took it because I am applying to other schools as well and sent it to them). What about you guys? I already submitted my application as a transfer student to UF I just need to finish the Nursing CAS application.
