  3. Hello, I have been working at a day program for 4 1/2 years. Our program runs from pre school aged to senior population. There are days were it is bandaids and TLC others seizures and 911. Lots of teaching support staff, we like Mass (i live in NY) have non medical who can give medications. It is a very specialized field, one that is needed with the rise of autism. A great resource for me has been joining DDNA (developmentally disabled nurses association ). Best of luck, welcome and may you always enjoy going to work!
  4. Looking for a study buddy for certification! I live in Rockland County, NY and want to get certified. Anyone certified already that can recommend where and what materials you used for cerification. Thanks for your feedback
  5. I live in New York, they have a 4 day certification course that I will be taking in August. Then I think the best route is to become a sub. after the certification. Alot of it is word of mouth, who you know and getting on that sub list. Will keep trying. Thanks for input! Just nice to know what direction I want to concentrate in, never too late even at 50!
  6. Hope this doesnt sound too silly but, is Mom using an insulin pen or drawing up in a needle. Just had a parent of one of my students come in to make sure i was taking off the two "caps", before i injected her son as he uses the insulin pen. Maybe child not getting insulin/dose correctly. I have heard about that direct bs going straight to endocrinologist throght glucometer. I would think the dr would want to know. Good luck
  7. Yes, I hear that scenario alot. Hard for me to give up stedy paycheck at this point in my life. Even though that seems to be the best way to get your foot in the door. Thanks
  8. Will try those thanks.
  9. Need some help! Not having much success in the public school system in getting a school nurse position. Wanted to go to private school setting to try. Is there a site where private schools post job listings or is it school specific? Thanks
