  1. i wish i'd thought of that @sage288! it can definitely get nerve wrecking thinking about materials not arriving on time. i sent in my app and transcripts earlier this week, but i'm still trying to figure out what to do about an LOR. have any of your recommenders ever told you guys that they'd only reference you for X amount of schools?
  2. thanks! I got the solar info... now we wait to hear about interviews. good luck everyone who already scheduled theirs!
  3. hm, thats odd. thanks for the feedback everyone. who would be the person/department to call about this?
  4. awesome! good luck! im definitely planning on sending everything out this week. are you submitting a letter of rec?
  5. congrats to those who already got emailed for an interview! when did you all submit your applications? i applied the week of the deadline and didn't even receive an email about SOLAR login info...
  6. I would only provide volunteer work if it was healthcare related @sage288 You pay the fee when you submit the app.
  7. hi @sage288. i am also applying for the ABSN fall 2016 at NYU- almost done with my application. Just need to send official transcripts. It says that an LOR is optional, so I'm considering not sending one- I think my most reliable references are getting sick of writing my letters for nursing school at this point. i applied last year for fall 2015, but unfortunately was not accepted. however, i believe that recent healthcare experience will make my app more competitive this time around. when will you be sending your app in?
  8. What I meant was that its like redoing the last two years of college for those of us who have already graduated from a 4 year school. I googled the acceptance rate for stony... its 41.3%, but I'm guessing the school of nursing has a much lower rate of acceptance.
  9. I think faculty screener 6/sent back to the committee for review, is a good thing. Mine has been on incomplete review for two months because I sent in my TEAS scores well after my application was submitted. Does anyone else have incomplete review? It seems like the average wait time to hear back is between 3-4 months. What do you guys think about the deadline being changed to space available basis?
  10. Its a 2 year program. 4 semesters. Essentially it would be junior/senior year of college, but all nursing courses for those of us who already have a bachelors.
  11. Commented on the other thread you posted! I applied two days ago... Hopefully the applicant pool for basic bsn is smaller than the applicant pool for stony's accelerated.
  12. Thanks for starting the thread, I don't think theres another one on here for us! I submitted my application two days ago. Really hoping to get accepted. Did any of you apply for the accelerated, too?
  13. Has anyone applied/in the process of applying to the basic, 2 year?
  14. AMAZING! congrats!
  15. The deadline is the 31st and you paid for/submitted your app already. don't stress it, they can't penalize us for taking the teas late- there weren't many available options in nyc for the test
  16. @piniella would you mind sharing your teas scores so we can get a better idea of how much the TEAS weighs in on our application? Also, has anyone on here submitted and paid for their app, but have not sent in their TEAS?
  17. congrats @nurseleader31. if stony was your first choice and you got in, i wouldnt bother with the TEAS either. i'm retaking mine next week- anyone have tips on how to score higher on the math portion? @bktid youre probably right. if its on a "space available basis," people who applied earlier have a better shot getting in, correct? any updates on your status today?
  18. Have you guys seen on the deadline page: "Applications will be accepted on a space available basis." When was this change made? Do you guys think this increases/decreases our odds of getting accepted? Is anyone on the thread taking their TEAS last minute? @bktid- have you seen any changes on your application? I really hope the applicant pool for downstate is less than Stony....
  19. congratulations @piniella! thats amazing! how did they contact you and what did your app say before you received your acceptance? are you going to commit to the program?
  20. since you put it that way, would you rather die in debt, or die knowing you didn't pursue the career that would've changed your life? don't settle when you know that you have more to offer the world. money is money and we're all in debt- thats the price we pay for education. a nursing education and career will be priceless, just try to look into less expensive programs.
  21. "incomplete review" means they haven't finished reviewing the application, not that material is missing. they were very kind on the phone. i finished my last prereq in june! which ones are you working on now? did you attend an info session?
  22. thanks for creating the thread! that sounds like you'll be hearing back soon if your application has gone through those stages, and its almost december! you're referring to the unofficial transcripts, correct? did you ever receive confirmation regarding the prerequisite course grid that we had to email to admissions? i emailed a few times (since its been stated that email is the schools preferred form of communication) but received no confirmation about the grid. i'm considering calling today to see what "incomplete review" means- maybe they've only partially reviewed my app. when did you take your TEAS?
  23. hi all, i'm also an applicant for the accelerated program for summer of 2016. i submitted my app about a week ago, and i'm seeing now that it says "incomplete review." have either of you seen that status on your application around the time you applied? what does it mean?
  24. thats great news, congrats @zvolquez! has anything on your SOLAR changed since you received your interview email?
  25. it seems like only one person on the thread was contacted for an interview. its still early! try not to think about it. is everything updated on your SOLAR? everything was marked as received (except official transcripts) as of yesterday. i'm guessing the initial overload of applications has been settled.
