  1. Many states and hospitals require BSN now, I think NYC still hires Associate Degree Nurses and so does Pennsylvania. That's about it I think. There could be more. Bachelor Degree Nurses will always be looked more favorably upon than ADNs. But no you don't need to have a BSN to take the NCLEX right now. It might be easier to get a job with a bachelors degree, as many hospitals have made it the preferred point of entry. My facility/health system wants BSN within 5 years of being hired. This is NYC
  2. Hospitals won't look at her as a NEW 'new grad', especially with fresh graduates just coming out of school/with their licenses. New grad is less than a year, then it gets old FAST. They want to know you have been doing something with your life/time. A refresher course sounds good, or be matriculated into a BSN program. If you cannot get a job in a hospital, try to get a job in rehab or LTC for a bit. Some experience (RECENT) is better than none. Best of luck!!
  3. go LTC. I'm an Associate Degree RN, graduated 2012, got a job in LTC for 6 months on the Rehab floor, then recently got hired at a Rehab Facility within a huge healthcare network in NYC. I hope to be successful there as I finish my BSN (which they totally reimburse to some extent) and then I want to transfer into one of their hospitals :)
  4. there's literally no way to reach just ONE recruiter on the Talent Acquisition team, they all work together, if there's an open spot then they look through resume submissions. They do prefer an RN with a bachelor's degree though, which I don't have. I created a profile back in 2012 and just kept applying once in awhile...sometimes to 50+jobs at once. I went to work at a ambulatory surgical clinic, and then at a local nursing home. FINALLY I got a call to inteview out of the blue after updating my resume once I had 6 months experience. I got hired to work at a rehabilitation center in the system. I am thrilled though...looking forward to moving up from here to one of their hospitals :).
