  1. Here's my email address: [email protected] :)
  2. Hi NurseTiten. I feel your pain, I failed NCLEX-RN twice last year. I am now thinking of going to Kaplan to hone my critical thinking skills (I know my content, it's just I really suck at critical thinking) How did you like Kaplan's way of teaching/review?
  3. Hi. I am a foreign nursing graduate currently residing in Chicago. I took NCLEX on June 9 2014 and was pretty devastated when I learned that I failed on my first attempt (I ran out of time and only finished 210 questions.) After months of studying, I scheduled to take it again on Dec 29, 2014. I even told myself that it would be a great way to end my year once I pass it. (Computer shut off at 105 or 107, I couldn't really remember as I wasn't paying attention on how many questions I already got but as how to answer each and every question correctly) But to my dismay, I failed AGAIN. Not the best feeling in the world, tbh. As much as I didn't want that exam to define me as a person, it kinda made me feel that it did. After days of nonstop crying, I've come to accept the fact that I failed. I need to get my orifice back up and earn that RN title because I know I deserve it. My reading/review materials on my 1st and 2nd try are as follows: Saunders LaCharity PDA Kaplan's Strategies, Practice and Review and Q trainers that I printed out online Hurst review videos (which a friend gave me) Mosby's Comprehensive Review After reviewing twice, I can say that my content is pretty ok. I just suck at critical thinking. So I decided to take in the plunge and spend a little on review classes. I need your opinion about Kaplan 's live classes and its Qbank and your review about Excell Review Center in Chicago. Is kaplan really worth your money or can Excell Review Center help me build my critical thinking skills? I am really torn! Please help!
  4. I've tried NCSBN's 3-week course and I was overwhelmed by all the info they provide there. Don't get me wrong, it's a good review course for its price but their rationale for the practice questions are just ok. They will just tell you why a certain option is the correct answer, they won't tackle why those other options are not the best fit for the question. I dunno, you might wanna try it. Besides it's only $50 compared to spending hundreds of dollars to other review courses. I have complied notes from my online review at NCSBN, if you want I can email it to you. Just message me. :)
  5. I'm on the same boat as you. I've already taken it twice, and now trying my luck for the 3rd time. Whenever I take the exam, my anxiety level is always up the ceiling. And also, I suck at critical thinking. What I'm going to do is to brush up on my content again (for the nth time. Lol) and I've met a couple people here who are willing to be my study buddies (online anyway, since I'm in Chicago and they're from the west coast) and do a lot of practice questions. Like, A LOT. So yeah, if I can be of any help, you can message. I'd be glad to help another sister (or brother) out. :)
  6. Hi! I am from IL too! And also a Filipina! Failed the exam twice and let me tell you sister, worst feeling ever. I graduated on 2008. If you need a study buddy or what have you, let me know. I might attend Excell Review Center in Chicago or Kaplan's live classes here in the suburbs (Naperville). I'm still torn between the two though (I posted something about it yesterday lol).
  7. Hi, I am also from the Philippines and graduated on 2008. Sadly, I failed the exam twice and planning to take it again as soon as the 45-day hold has been lifted (here in IL if you failed the exam, you have to wait for 45 days before you can schedule for another one) Saunders is a good start to know your content (I've used it religiously and have ready it from cover to cover!) I've also used NCSBN ($50 for 3 weeks) to review content but I was overwhelmed by all the info they provide. Still, NCSBN helped me with some additional info that's not in Saunders. Also used Kaplan book for strategy in taking the exam and watched videos from Hurst review. Don't forget to purchase or borrow from your library (if they have it) Lacharity's PDA. BIG HELP. You may be asking, "so why the heck did you still fail the exam?" (Don't worry, I also asked that to myself. Lol) My answer to that is really simple, I SUCK AT CRITICAL THINKING. And in NCLEX, you need to have great critical thinking skills. So right now I am planning to take either Kaplan's live classes OR Excell Review in Chicago. Hope this time I pass. (3rd time's a charm, I hope!) Good luck to you kabayan! Let me know if I can be of help to you! :)
  8. I can feel your pain. Failed the exam twice now. But I am planning to take it again 'cos I know I deserve that title. I know you do too. Whenever I feel down, I would always think of what my sister told me: "Nothing worth having comes easy." Don't give up, we'll get there. :)
