I am looking at nursing schools in Florida. Currently live in Chicago but plan on moving and applying for Spring 2017. What's the average GPA for acceptance?

Hello, I am looking at Aurora university in aurora, IL! I am wonderinf if any current students can share there gpa and teas score? Also any tips and how do they like the program? Is the patho class required before the first semester of nursing classes or can you take it during the first semester?

I think if you really want to become a nurse you will. You need a true passion it sounds like you have that but DONT doubt yourself. You are definitely not too old. All the girls I work with are about the same age and are just applying to nursing. I suggest you volunteer, get your CNA and get your foot in the door of nursing. Just stay focused and don't loose sight of your dream you can do it!

First off becoming a CNA I knew it was going to be lots of hard work! I know its no walk in the park. I have been working at my assisted living for about 9 months. Don't get me wrong I love my residents I love doing resident care. They put a smile on my face every morning even when I feel burnt out from working and going to school full time. This is not the main problem. Also keep in mind the "assisted living" is more like nursing home care level and there is 3 cnas for 55 residents. As a CNA I run the dinning room, this consist of doing ALL the dishes, serving residents, taking orders, and resetting the dinning room for lunch. This is no easy task well we are also expected to do all the laundry, fold and return it. Also we run some of the activities exspecially on weekends. All the cnas feel like we can not give the best care due to the several other tasks that are put upon us. I can not tell you how many times I here "can you just slow down" and I want to tell the residents no I can not or things will not get done! Another problem is we get done with lunch around 1 then I need to take all my residents to the med room, toilet them, return laundry, collect ALL the garbage, and write down the location of all the residents within an hour. Also upper management tends to favor the second shift so we are expected to clear all the dishes and clean the tables. All this by 2 oclock before its time to clock out. It is no easy task and I have to make my residents wait because if I do not my director will come yell at me. For example today I got told I cant sit down ( it was 1:55) I forgot a few dishes at the table. I just feel like this is not fair to cnas and definitely not to the residents who pay upwards to 10,000$ a month. Since the mangments within my location will not do anything im not sure what would be the right thing to do to correct the problem? Corporate perhaps.

In order to be a nurse you have to be willing to put others before you. Your constantly taking care of people who are sick and they rely on you. Its a very rewarding job! It really takes a special person with compassion and love to become a nurse, well a GOOD one. I've seen many rude inconsiderate nurses that are there just for money. The responsibilities of a nurse kind of depend on where they work one in a nursing home would pass meds and do paperwork and a flight nurse would do something totally different. That's one great thing about nursing is there's several different career opportunities! In order to work in the united states as a nurse im pretty sure you need to get your papers. Alsso if you are considering going into nursing I suggest to become a CNA first.

Sorry haven't been on for a while!!! Well outcome was I returned back the next day. I got lucky because the day the incident took place I was bringing the resident back to her room to lay her down because she had leg pain. Thank god the director was standing outside the door waiting for me to lay her down because he was doing a tour with another family and wanted to show them the room. He heard me talking to the resident and he said I was not being abusive or neglecting the resident because he would've heard it since he was standing right outside the door. And they talked to the resident again and she admitted to lying. Although everyone was talking saying I "abused" a resident it was hard for me. I turned it into a learning experience and I hope this never happens again!

Honestly it seems to me you don't want to be a nurse that bad. If you did you would find a way! Go to school over summer take a few semesters off, take online courses. I will do anything to go through nursing school because its something im passionate about! If you want it bad enough you'll find a way..

I am a CNA and today I went into work at 6am. The DON came around the corner and asked if I could come to her office. When we got to her office she told me that I was being send home because there is a formal complaint and an open investigation about me. She said this well the door was open and another CNA was listening which I thought was rude. I said what does the investigation involve and she said she cant tell me and I needed to wait till the Director came in. I waited in the break room crying my eyes out for three and a half hours. I was going home till I got my answers. At about 930 I went into the directors office and he told me there where 2 formal complaints filed against me. He told me I had nothing to worry about and I would need to come in Monday to fill out paper work. I asked if he could tell me what I did wrong so maybe I can improve something he told me no not yet. But with his findings he couldn't see that I did anything wrong that he needs to follow the rules and send me home. I love all my residents and couldn't imagine one let alone two complaining about me. Has this happened to anyone else? are they allowed to not tell me about the complaints? should I be worried about loosing my license?
