  1. You'll be ok! It took a month from my physical to boarding and then I didn't hear about a final offer for almost another month! Trust me, you're in there just don't give notice to your current employer yet (I speak from experience)
  2. So just to update on me and my timeline Applied 6/28 (closing date 7/12) Interview 8/4 Phone offer and references given 8/5 Whirlwind of vet pro, equip and misc in August (tentative offer and salary was also somewhere in here) Physical/Fingerprints 9/8 Boarded 10/5 Started 11/14 I agree with everyone that says do not give notice! I gave notice because HR and I had discussed an earlier start date and I was getting pressured to give a notice, but due to unforeseen circumstances (a hurricane) I got pushed back twice. So I was out of work for a month when I only anticipated a week.
  3. Wow! I talked to HR after I left from fingerprinting and the physical and she said that they would probably call me this week with an onboarding date. We talked about potential dates for me to start. The PA I saw for the physical said that the physical and fingerprinting just kind of get "thrown in" during all kinds of areas of the process. So we're looking at me starting on October 17!
  4. From those of you who have gone through the hiring process, how long from when you did your physical and fingerprinting before the firm offer? I have done Eqip, VetPro and now I have my appointment for the physical and fingerprinting this week. Just looking for a time frame :)
  5. Update today: Got my email to set up VetPro, got it all completed. Spoke with the credentialing lady at HR who said her part would be done this week. So now just to wait for my physical, fingerprinting and drug test to be scheduled out.
  6. So I got my phone call from HR with my tentative offer and tentative salary on Friday. She emailed me the boatload of forms to fill out and I sent it all back with a copy of my SS card, my BLS card, my most recent eval. and my resume. She said it can still take up to 60 days for everything until I get my final offer and that they will ask for the start date because they want me to work out the remainder of whatever notice I give. I still have not given my notice because I do not feel comfortable doing so without a firm offer and prospective date yet. I'm now just waiting on HR to schedule the physical, fingerprinting and whatever else they need!
  7. Exactly. I have brought up many problems and possible solutions that were completely brushed off. Now that I have an interest in elsewhere they realize that they will be losing someone who does the majority of the work. Anyway, I think that I'll be ok. I spoke with the nurse manager and she anticipates late Sept/early Oct for me to start. Fingers crossed it goes smoothly.
  8. The VA told me that they needed at least 3 references, one of which had to be my current supervisor. I think I have bought some time with my current job since they are fighting hard to try and hold on to me, wanting me to "think about it". I probably won't board onto the VA until Sept/Oct so I have some time.
  9. They want me to give a 60 day out notice.......I'm trying to procrastinate right now. They say it's because they need to get someone in here so that I can get them trained. I know that they've been calling references today.
  10. Help! Ok I applied for a position, the closing date was 7/12. Had an interview on 8/4 and received call the next day extending the offer. Emailed my 3 references to the nurse manager and then had to tell my current supervisor (the DON) that they would be calling her for a reference since they have to call the current supervisor. Well today my DON tells me that she needs my resignation letter so that she can post for my position. I haven't received any emails from HR or anything of that nature. But I did get a call on Friday afternoon to offer the position. This is a tough spot. I don't know the timeframe so I can't really give a resignation date. I'm kind of prepared to be treated like crap now until I can get out of here. Ugh.......
  11. Interviewed today and it went really well! It was a phone interview so it was hard not to have the face to face connection. I have an interview for another position I'm looking into on Thursday. They said they would call me either way so we shall see. The big issue is the pay. I just don't see how I can take that pay cut......the right thing will happen
  12. Thanks everyone for your input! It's going to be a difficult decision any way I look at it. I went from a hospital position to a public health position and really don't ever want to go back to shift work í ½í¸Š I have 2 interviews this week, the school nurse position which is through another county health department that borders the county I work for. now...and an interview with the local VA clinic. So many pros and cons to each opportunity. I just can't swallow a 20k pay cut. Even with deducting my children's after school/summer care (10k) I would still have a good chunk of a loss. I'm going to interview and see what they say. The VA job is also a great opportunity because they don't come around often either and that would be an increase in pay and still no shift work (8-430 M-F). I have thought of the idea of supplement with camps and PRN if I were to take the SN job. Either way I'm in quite the pickle! Tangled webs huh?
  13. Thanks! I am a mom to two kiddos (6&8 years old) so it would definitely eliminate after school and summer care ($$$$)
  14. That's my struggle, I already have no nights, holidays or weekends with the health department. I'm still going to interview, just have to weigh my options í ½í¸Š
  15. So I've been an RN since 2012, worked in the hospital on a Med/Surg floor and have worked in Public Health for the past 3 years. I have an interview on Monday (phone prelim interview) for a school nursing position. My big problem is that now I make 50k per year and I would be taking a pretty good pay cut.....but the hours are great (M-T 7:30 to 2:30) and I would eliminate afterschool care for my kiddos. I would love some input from you who may have taken a pay cut to get into school nursing and if you have been happy with that decision. Thanks!
