  1. So... i am a 2nd time taker for the NCLEX. I graduated in April of 2016 - 1st attempt on the 23rd of June of 2016 (Thursday), - 2nd time was TODAY on the 8th of October 2016 (Saturday). 1st attempt: * I had 200 questions (took 1 break...towards the beginning) * I used MULTIPLE study sources (Kaplan qbank, some of the Hurst review ONLINE, Lacharity leadership book, and Saunders). * I studied every single source for those 2 months... but not as much as I could of. I figured because I just graduated from school... that the info would stick with me. NOPE. * The week of my test, i studied like 3-4 hours in a day.. due to the fact that I work nights at a hospital.. (12hourshifts)...didn't really put in the time needed to focus on my studying because of work. More study time, no money -> can't pay bills. More work time, can't study-> can't pass NCLEX. That is what I was juggling. * Past test takes say that the day before the test you shouldn't study...so i did JUST that.. i didn't study. I went to the beach... and just relaxed. I also went to the testing site to make sure I knew where it was. * TEST DAY: I reviewed my lab values before going into the center. My appt. was at 2pm, I went in at 1pm.. * I found out that I didn't pass through MQA (Florida Health Website) 2 days later... 2nd Attempt: * I had the FULL 265 questions (took 1 break, around my 210th question) * I ONLY used UWORLD qbank, Mark Klimek audios, and I went to a LIVE HURST REVIEW near where i lived. (I went to it twice) * UWORLD is amazing. The rationales are what helped me UNDERSTAND content believe it or not. Both wrong or right... i wrote down my own notes (typed notes... 14 FULL pages) of my rationales that I didn't understand. I would do 100 questions a day. The bank contains 1900 for 30 days... I did the whole bank in August to Sept.. and bought it again (1900 questions) till October 9th.. a day after my Nclex. * The HURST LIVE REVIEW was also great as well. It helped me understand content in a way that is relatable. By relatable I mean there was humor, and "come to Jesus" moments with Aunt Marlene and her charismatic attitude towards passing the NCLEX. I would do each video... every other day.. depending on my mood. * Mark Klimek audios were also wonderful... didn't finish all of them though. It was approx. 12 audio clips. Took notes with those as well. MANY MNEMONICS with Klimek...so great. * With my studying times... I reallllyyyyy buckled down with my studying. The people at Starbucks already knew me by name. I was there almost everyday when I wasn't working. I would show up around 10am... wouldn't leave till 5pm. * Day before my test, I reviewed ALL OF MY NOTES, from UWORLD, MARK Klimek, and HURST. JUST NOTES. No questions. Didn't do any questions all day. * Day of TEST: My test was at 11:00am. Had a protein smoothie...and headed over around 10am. Left the test center near 1:30 ish... had 2 hours left on my test. Got the full 265. I also got the LAST question wrong... so that myth about failing if you got the last question wrong is WRONG. Every question is pointed differently... SOOOO... I did the PVT (Pearson Vue Trick)... and I got the GOOD POP UP (multiple times)... But definitely want to see the word PASS on the screen... so gotta wait till either tomorrow to see it on MQA... or buy the quick results. ALL IN ALL. Prayer and confidence in your own knowledge is what (I hope) helped me pass my NCLEX. I have seen soooo many people on here that are repeat test takers like myself... and EVERY SINGLE ONE OF YOU.. have been such an inspiration to me. Stay Prayed UP!... and have Faith in yourself and in your God giving talent to become an amazing NURSE! I even wrote my name, and the RN initials on my bathroom mirror to remind myself that I can do it! HOPE THIS HELPS SOMEONE OUT THERE!!!!!
  2. Let me just start off.... I... am also a repeat test taker... (I will be taking my test for the 2nd time in a couple of days)..and I have no doubt in my mind that you are going to be an awesome nurse! This test is NUTS! .. take it from somebody who maintained a C average all through nursing school.. To take this test it doesn't matter if you were valedictorian of your school... or a straight A student.... the NCLEX does not care. It only cares about how competent you are in saving that person's life. I currently work at a hospital as a nurse tech, and I work with so many AMAZING ICU/CRITICAL CARE nurses who were all in the "top of their class" during school..... and passed the nclex on their 2nd or third try... and at the same time I work with some nurses who pass the nclex on their 1st attempt, who could really care less about their patient.. and spend their entire shift on facebook. So trust when I tell you.. that I know the feeling of not passing it... but it motivated me to study more.. and with less distractions. Now we BOTH know what the test looks like... and the "feels" of it while testing.. so next time when we take it, it'll be more comfortable. So. I used UWORLD. Uworld is by far the best resource that I have done ever since the 1st attempt. I have dedicated SO much of my time on UWORLD everyday.. except when I work 12 hour shifts..(so tired). If you go on their website it gives you sample questions before you buy... for 1 month it is $59 if i'm not mistaken... and its 1900 questions for the actual bank. BEST RATIONALES by far from what I studied before. I literally have close to 14 pages of NOTES that I have noted off of this bank... both wrong and correct questions. When you start doing the questions.. THEY ARE HARD. SO HARD. But... they say...and by they i mean an average of people have been saying that if you score on average 50-60% on your tests... than you are a shoe in for the NCLEX. UWORLD makes you critically think. I also went to a LIVE review...HURST... and it helped me with content.. So in conclusion.... (so sorry this comment is long...) but i feel like fellow NCLEX takes have posted on this website.. and it has helped with my story line of this adventure that we call NURSING. This is just the beginning.
  3. I'm a UAP at the hospital, and I also have a hard time distinguishing between NCLEX and real world. For example, in the hospital I'm allowed to do orthostatic vitals on a patient. On the NCLEX, the RN is supposed to do it... due to it being an assessment. Idk if you are studying UWORLD, but UWORLD has a ton of questions regarding delegation and knowledge based questions specified with each nursing title, (LPN, RN, UAP, case manager etc.) Hope this helps!!
  4. I think you definitely passed.... why? Because you got your last question right!! They say that if you get your last question right your PASS!! COngrats to yoU!!
  5. You are going to be amazing!!!! Best of luck to you!!! I'm using UWorld as well, and it has helped me so much to understand content
  6. Hey @laila26... i took my first attempt on June 23rd, and here in Florida... or idk how it is in other states, we have to wait 45 days until we can reschedule again. I paid my dues august 12th, and still haven't received anything. Also, you have to consider that august is one of the major months of graduates, so there are TON of applications that the board has to go through. One of the classmates that was in the Hurst LIVE Review with me, she just graduated nursing school last month, and she could only get a spot for her 1st attempt in OCTOBER!... so i can just imagine when mine is going to be. But i also agree everything happens for a reason..and that I also have my weaknesses. Mine are maternity and peds. I don't have any kids my own so i don't really have an understanding of the developmental sides, or the maternal aspect.... but there are some mothers that ALSO struggle as well even though they have first hand experience... but that isn't the case at times. I also have the lacharity book..... and it definitely has helped with prioritizing care and which nurse can see which patient etc..... BUT... Uworld has honestly helped me more with that concept than anything else. So UWORLD is by far the best source I have used so far... even though I haven't taken my 2nd attempt yet... but I feel WAYYYY more prepared this time... than I did last time when I did my first attempt.
  7. I'm also going to be a "2nd time taker", so I am doing UWorld Questions, and I also did the Hurst Live Review for content. I also, when I'm driving to work or anywhere in particular, I turn on Mark Klimek audio and listen to his awesome mnemonics, and strategies to the NCLEX. It's quite difficult to not pass the test the 1st time like we both did, but let it be known that people who have 4.0 GPA through out school (which I sure didn't have) haven't passed either; sometimes not till their 2nd attempt. Some of the best nurses that I work with at the hospital, are all 2nd time takers, and some of the "I can't believe someone gave you a license" nurses pass it the first time?...... Yea. I don't get it either. But you will do great the next time! and so will I!.. confidence in your answers is key, always go with your gut feeling!
  8. I appreciate your feedback guys. 👍👍
  9. So I happened to fail the NCLEX June 23rd.. I had 200 questions. So now I'm training with UWORLD for my 2nd attempt (I used kaplanonlineQbank, and hurstreviewonline for my 1st attempt).. and NO LIE... in my first test that I did on UWORLD, I saw more than 3 exact questions that I saw on the NCLEX ( word for word) . I remember the questions because they were actually the ones I struggled with during the NCLEX. Other than seeing those... the setup and the type of questions on UWORLD are VERY VERYYYY similar to the type of questions that are on the NCLEX. I was upset at first when I saw that I didn't pass, but its a blessing to have my own understanding NOW of what the test looks like.. after so many months of people telling me how it is.. and all of that. Now I have a legit VISUAL of the test after taking.. and I feel way more confident now than I was before. you World is the IT factor folks...
  10. I didn't pass mine either... On the 23rd of June.. With 200 questions. I did the online hurst, Lacharity and a few Kaplan questions. I feel like the only one that helped me get through ALMOST the whole thing was the fact that I had knowledge of prioritization...thanks to Lacharity. So now.. That I know how the test looks like... I know what to study ya know.. From what I've read on these forums discussions... UWorld is wonderful for answering questions..they say that Uworld is harder than the NCLEX questions....🤔🤔What is your experience on U world?
  11. This is a comment I posted on another NCLEX topic... Decided to make a discussion out of it... took mine for the 1st time this past Thursday; unfortunately I didn't pass it.. But...as you already know, there are a TON of priority questions. Questions that include, mass casualty scenarios (which one would you save first), different unit trained nurses floating to other units (which pt. would you give to the OB nurse etc...) On my test, I had a lot of AIDS and HIV questions, chemotherapy questions, and maternity questions (my weakest). I should've studied more of my Lacharity, now that I look back at my studying rituals...but I felt like I was doing really well with the SATA's. ( I had 200 questions, and I felt like I only had 25 select all's..) Make sure you study different PPE for different disease processes ( chicken pox, meningitis etc.) Right before I entered the testing site, I looked at all lab values (specifically creatinine, magnesium, potassium, urine specific gravity, calcium, A1C). It helped because the NCLEX gave different scenarios of a patient, with their lab values, any diagnostic tests, and history...and you have to figure out what needs to be implemented regarding the results...and what the next action will be. Other than that.... If u have all that down.. You'll do fine. I only had 200 questions out of the 3000 questions from the NCLEX so... All this info might be irrelevant.. But I pray and hope it helps you. Like I said I didn't pass mine..but I don't feel sad or depressed. This test doesn't determine me.. I will do better next time. ️
