I'm getting really tired of this whole process and am just about ready to throw in the towel. I can't stand to be this frustrated anymore. Between having to wait for them to assess our applications for a second time and spending lots of $$$ re-sending documents that they have previously received/lost, I'm done. I just feel like my time would be better spent doing something else. But good luck to you all! I hope everything works out. And hopefully if enough people complain, the NMC will make some changes (like transferring over previously received documents) for those transitioning from the old process to the new - but I won't hold my breath.

Forgot to add that I think we're in contact with the same nursing agency...it's good to know that we can at least apply for a visa as long as we have the OSCE scheduled -- that's been one of my biggest concerns because I am hoping to be in London by this summer.

Thanks so much for the update! I don't even know where to begin...No one has taken the OSCE?? That worries me a little, because I know that some people passed the exam back in December/January, and possibly as early as November. What on earth is the hold up? I started the registration process last February. The NMC received all of my documents some time in August/September of last year...right before the changes to the registration process. As expected, my application was rejected due to an insufficient number of clinical/theory hours, and I received a letter from the NMC two weeks later stating that I should re-apply under the new process. Passed my test last month and like everyone else I was told that I would have to re-submit my documents because they cannot transfer documents over to the new system, which, quite frankly, makes no sense to me, but I guess it is what it is. I had all of my documents sent by courier and confirmed online that they arrived in London last week. As of today, there are no updates on my account and I have not received any type of confirmation e-mail from the NMC. I suppose it takes a while, though. Oh, and don't bother calling them to double check that they have received anything, because they will just tell you that they can't confirm anything...which is absolutely mind boggling considering that they had no problem doing so before. Please let me know what you are able to find out from the University of Northampton! I totally share your frustration/anxiety.

Any updates? My documents were submitted almost two weeks ago, and from the States, letters take about two weeks to get to the UK. Haven't seen any changes to my application yet and haven't spoken to the NMC in about the same amount of time so have no idea what's going on right now. Would be interested to hear about any OSCE info/how long it takes the NMC to review an application. @Foxtrotunicorns, were you able to find out anything from the University of Northampton? Thanks!

Hi UK Gal, Thanks for starting this thread. I just passed my CBT and am waiting for the NMC to transfer my payment to my new application. I started the old process in Feb/March 2014 and was rejected for the same reason, and I was also notified by the NMC to start the new process. I'm surprised you're having to re-submit your documents. I was told by an NMC officer in November that our documents would transfer once we created a new application. But its the NMC, I shouldn't be surprised that things have changed...

I passed the exam as well today. Left feeling like I might not have passed so it was a pleasant surprise to see that I had. I think the Royal Marsden book is pretty useful - mainly for the quizzes. The blueprint...not so much. The test consisted of all of the things a previous poster mentioned - 1 maternal/child health question, 1 mental health question etc. Good luck to you all!

Yes, silverdragon, but aren't you in a different country now? Shouldn't we have the opportunity to go to another country if we want to? I don't think there's anything wrong with us wanting to experience being a nurse in the UK (in my case, being a travel nurse) and having a somewhat fair chance at registering. I'm not asking for it to be easy, I just want it to be realistic. This new process is full of problems and the NMC is choosing to ignore those of us pointing them out. That's where a lot of the frustration is coming from.

Silverdragon, I see where you're coming from, but I think my main problem with this whole process is the fact that it has not been standardized/the NMC has obviously not worked out all of the kinks. That and the joke of a study guide they provided for this test. I don't know how it works in other countries, but in the United States, once someone has gone through the process of having transcripts reviewed and possibly taking additional courses, there are purchasable, useful study guides that they can use to prepare for the NCLEX. With some proper studying, the NCLEX isn't too bad...and it tests basic nursing knowledge, not some of this stuff this new competency test is testing--like the code--which, to me, is something that can be learned on the job...and isn't something that should be tested through poorly worded/ambiguous questions. Also, the NCLEX is at least scored fairly using the CAT system - this new competency test is not graded fairly at all. How can missing one of a set of questions cause one to fail an entire exam? It's crazy. Maybe if the test were more fair and those of us who have to take the exam had an adequate study guide, we wouldn't be complaining so much. I have to take this test the first week of February, but I can tell you I'm already worried/contemplating cancelling it because I don't want to waste £130 on a test that seems designed to make people fail.
