PLU BSN to DNP Summer 2021 Start
Hi, I’m sorry your interview didn’t seem great. I bet you did better than you’re thinking though. We are our own worst enemy. The proctored essay: log in via Zoom. They will tell you to open up Word or Google doc. They will give you a random topic. You will have 30 minutes exactly to write an essay. They do give you warnings as to how much time you’ve left. Right at the end, they expect you to email it promptly to the email address they’ll give you. I hope this helped! Good luck! chilli

PLU BSN to DNP Summer 2021 Start
Hi Nikki, That’s awesome that you’ve been selected elsewhere ~ congrats on that! Let me clarify ~ there was a written proctored essay for the DNP FNP. I’m not 100% that that’d be the case for PMHNP. It seemed like a new thing they were doing anyways. Good luck on the interview!! Please let us know how it went! Chilli

PLU BSN to DNP Summer 2021 Start
Raven ~ congratulations on getting an interview! It is my understanding that you crossed one of the hurdles not everyone gets a chance to do. I was so nervous too! I tried to prepare the best I could. Ultimately, it was just like a job interview that starts off with “Tell me about yourself” then got into more situational/behavioral questions. The time flew by very very quickly. I look forward to hearing about your progression! IF...IF we both get in, our classes overlap ? Chilli

PLU BSN to DNP Summer 2021 Start
Hi, I don't see a thread about Pacific Lutheran University and their DNP program yet ~ so, here we are! Currently, their first priority deadline of December 1 just passed. The next deadline is January 15, 2021. Both are for a June (Summer) 2021 start. I've got my app in and am wondering who else have applied? I'm also wondering: How many people get accepted? When/how are folks notified? Any current/past students that could offer up any info on the process or program itself? Thanks for reading and your participation on this thread!

Congratulations! Definitely interesting times, but you're doing it! I've got so many questions as I just submitted my CAS. I totally understand if you don't have time ~ maybe others can even chime in? What was your timeline from submission? What can you tell me about the process? How competitive is the admittance? How big is your cohort? Are you able to work while in school? Is the program affordable? Any information or comment is very much welcomed that is allowed and appropriate! I wish there was more info/forums online for this program. Thank you so much for your time!

How did it go?

Pacific Lutheran University (PLU) BSN 2017-2018
Haha ~ yes, everything Future said! Seriously look at Rate my Professors for Religion ~ Early Christianity. I had Dr. Torvend and he was good/easier than some of my other cohorts. No memorizing and he lets you use a 3x5 even after giving out a study guide. I didn't use a pass/fail option because I didn't know about it...so, I ended up working harder than I needed to. My other class was Early Modern European Hx of the 1400-1700's. When we signed up for Fall, most of the classes were already taken for Gen Ed's...Hx is not my strength. Overall, I never got less than 92.5% in any of my assignments or exams in all my classes so far. You'll just need to study a lot. I know some people never read their Nursing book, but I did & highlighted important parts and studied from that. Nursing exams are 6-10 chapters each. Some students just studied off PowerPoint and did fine too. Anyways.... Join Delta Iota Chi (Nursing club) :). You'll get graduation regalia from this. Practice Self Care & have lots of fun with many new friends! Chilli

Hi creamie! For me, I initially only got a letter in the mail. When they moved me from Spring to Fall ~ is when I got a phone call. There were no emails involved. Warm regards, Chilli

Hi Lute2021, Ya. They do overlap on one day (Wednesday), but I've classes M-F overall. (Also, a clinical time on Saturday mornings) PLU will assign clinical times to you ~ so, no choice there. However, you will choose your gen eds around your Nursing Concepts. For me, my options were limited. I think you'll have at least a month to organize childcare after you have your schedule due to J-Term. Chilli

Pacific Lutheran University (PLU) BSN 2017-2018
Hi Lute2021, I am new with a Fall start, but have some insight as I've my first semester schedule already. I'm taking two general eds and Nursing Concepts I. The gen eds are 3 days a week. Nursing Concepts is also 3 days where there's lecture and lab & clinicals. The clinical portion starts nearly a month into the semester. My classes are morning to early afternoon, but I know of others where theirs go into the evening with a 7pm end time. Also, clinical may also be Saturday mornings according to my schedule. With the 3 classes, I've 13 books. I found them a lot cheaper on Amazon. I hope that's helpful. Good Luck! Chilli

With that said...that opens up my previous spot for Spring. I hope ya'll get in! They are still sending out letters too ~ btw. Stay positive! Chilli

I'm literally just over midway 1st quarter in my 6th week LPN school. When I applied, I wasn't even thinking of Bates. In fact, i was accepted into LPN before I applied to Bates for LPN April 4th...since TCC has started their reverse articulation program. I got a call on a Friday and started the next Monday. I turned in my PLU app in January & no where on there had LPN intentions. Anyways...I hope that clarifies!

Thank you SO much! Yep ~ regular #10 envelope with PLU logo. It felt thick, but had 4 papers. 1 was the congrats letter, 2 papers (same ~ duplicate) of a paper to officially accept the spot, and 1 course outline. I had totally resigned to completing LPN to bridge over back to TCC for RN. It's a guarantee spot at TCC as they just started a "reverse articulation" program where first year is at Bates and second year for RN is at TCC. I know how it feels to wait & have felt the sting of rejection many times....please keep the faith everyone!!!
