Moving & applying for jobs online
I think you diagnosed my trepidation right on. I'm not worried about applying online; I'm worried about all the changes going on in my life and I haven't been in this position for awhile. I will be moving back to my hometown. My parents have a big house and it is a great situation for me and my family. Hoping it is a win-win situation, as I look to get on better financial footing and then help my parents who are in their 80's and experiencing health issues. Embracing the change and the adventure of it all is the key. Thanks for your positive vibes and input!

Options in Oncology
I'll be moving to a town with an oncology clinic but I don't believe that they have a floor dedicated to oncology. Definitely something to check out. I feel drawn towards oncology because I think receiving a cancer diagnosis is such a seminal moment in a person's life and I would like to play a role and help someone in such a time of need. I like having more of a relationship and seeing a patient's progress then I see during my preceptorship on a surgical unit. I wanted to hear oncology nurses experiences to see if I can learn from them.

Moving & applying for jobs online
Hi, I'm moving in January to a new state after I graduate from my RN program. I'm feeling such trepidation about applying for jobs online. Perhaps I should say I'm 50 and have owned my own business for the past 12 years, so it feels like such a blind leap of faith to fill out an application, resume and cover letter and receive an interview and a job offer from it. Can anyone offer words of advice or success stories? Last time I looked for a job using a resume was about 20 years ago and the playing field has changed. I know I will put together a good resume and cover letter but is there advice on how to follow through and pursue that job?

35 and looking for a career change - is nursing it?
I am a former teacher and I'm about to graduate my RN program at at age 50. I think it is so important for nurses to be good educators and you have so many great experiences that will be able to share with your patients. Good luck!

Want advice from experienced oncology RNs
I will graduate later this month and I have an interest in oncology with no oncology experience. I've been reading different posts and it seems to vary as to whether an oncology unit will hire a new grad. I would like some advice from an experienced oncology nurse. Do you think oncology units should hire new grads? Do you think a new grad would benefit from being on a med/surg floor first? I know some nurses tell me you should aim for a job in the department you want to work and they will train you, but right now, I am not finding openings in oncology that I can apply for. Any thoughts shared would be appreciated. Thanks.

Options in Oncology
I'm sorry, I won't be any help but I will graduate soon and I'm interested in oncology. I don't have oncology experience though and have been applying for med/surg RN jobs to gain experience before I try to transition to oncology. Could you tell me what you tell me why you don't like your job? What is it that makes you want to leave? Just curious if I can learn from your experience?
