  1. Hi Tann! I'm sorry to hear that you're struggling with your tests. Definitely don't give up if this is your dream and your goal. It can be very disheartening to go from the testing format of pre-nursing to that of nursing. Looking at NCLEX books really helped me. Basically, nursing tests are asking you to apply what you know to various scenarios rather than regurgitate facts. NCLEX books and programs are full of questions like the ones you'll experience on your program. You can usually get them from you school library, nursing resource center or public library, or buy them online or from a bookstore if that's within your budget. Stay as current as possible. There are also CD ROMS or programs you can upload to your computer. Sounds like you just need to adjust to the types of questions they ask in nursing. Hope this helps, and good luck to you!
  2. Congrats Jacsn on being accepted! Definitely get a day planner. Otherwise, I agree with the poster that said just take this time to relax with your family and friends. Once you're in the thick of it, time with them is limited. Good luck to you in your college experience and future profession!
  3. Hello Bert! I'm a Practical Nurse and a senior on the BSN program, and let me tell you, it didn't start to really click until this year on the clinical floor. And there is still so much more to learn! Keep in mind that you are given huge amounts of information that will apply to several different areas of nursing to 1. give you basic knowledge and flexibility to choose various areas in the nursing field and 2. pass the NCLEX. But in my experience as a Practical Nurse, what you will know like the back of your hand is the information pertinent to where you work. If you work in med-surg, you will not remember anything about pediatric nursing, and so on. So, stay encouraged! Honestly, my response to my family anymore (after years of taking health related questions!) is "you should make an appointment with your doctor" lol.
