  1. Check on ebay! I found quite a few resources, haven't watched them yet so couldn't tell you specifics, but they were inexpensive and for your situation most were delivered in just a few days. BEST OF LUCK!
  2. This is what worked for me and a few friends. !) Read and underline or highlight through the chancellors book 2) Go back and write out the sections that you highlighted or undelined 3) Take the test in the back of the chancellors book 4) Take noted on that test by starting at question one and turning the question and answer into a statement. (you should also do it for the other answers that were incorrect - you may have to look them up (use google). ex. Who was the pioneer of modern nursing? A. Nightingale B. Watson C. Mahoney. -- You would write out in seperate statements Nightingale was the pioneer of modern nursing Watson set the model for Caring Mahoney was the first african american nurse to graduate from US nursing school Next take the first practice test provided by excelsior (you have to pay for these) and see how you do. Dont be discouraged witht the results (I usually made 60ish on the first and 80ish on the second). Now take notes down the same way you did for the chancellors test. You now only need to study the notes form the book and the two tests. About a week out from your acutal test do the second excelsior practice test. Try to treat it as the real thing. When you get your results take the same notes on it. Make sure you note your weaker areas and try to focus the rest of your study time on them. Seems like a lot but I took a test a month (as did my friends) No one failed any exmas and most ended up 3.0 or better. We all work full time and then some plus have families so it is "doable" FYI. If you learn instead of memorize (with the exception of NC 7) the real tests are easier than the practice ones. BEST OF LUCK! zack
  3. Not sure what Independence University is. Let me know and I can hopefully give you a better answer...
  4. I took A & P online. If you do not have resources provided then I would suggest going online. Anytime I couldn't find good diagrams or had trouble picturing obscure topics I would go to good old google. Using the web portion was useless but when using the images feature I could find countless great examples. I went to google images and within 5 min was able to find what looks like a fitting description of your assignment. Since you are already imerssed in the class and have the assignment in front of you I bet you could find something even faster!! Best of luck You can always email the instructor for clarification (especially if everyone is having trouble).
  5. Just my 2c. I have clinical experience in RT but not nursing. I used only the workbooks from chancellors and took a test per month ending up with 3.5ish. I would definately purchase the practice tests. They provide reasoning for why answers are right but more importantly why the others were wrong. I can tell you exactly how I studied if your interested. DONT give up! It is just a matter of finding which study method will work best for you. FYI, a few friends of mine have used my method and worked for them as well (sorry that sounded like an infomercial!) Anyway, best of luck Zack
  6. That is exactley my path! I have my RRT and thats how I was able to begin the excelsior program. As far as CRNA qualifications my BS degree is in Bio/Chem and the CRNA school that I have have been in communication with says that is great. I finished the 7 nursing concept exams in about 6-7 months and ended up with a GPA ~ 3.5. I am lucky enough to be sponsered by the hospital I work for so cost hasn't been an issue with me, but in my opinion I would not purchase anything from excelsior other that the practice tests which would be worth every penny (the study guides they provide were free). I took one test a month and only used a single workbook per exam. The workbook I used was from chancellors and I borrowed those from a friend in the excelsior program. Couldnt tell you much about the CPNE as I just finished the final nursing concept exam and currently am in the process of registering for it Once the RN degree is completed (good Lord willing) I will split time between cvicu (which does between 6- 10 hearts per week) and msicu ( to get a little more well rounded exposure) untill I have enough hours to take the CCRN and formally apply to CRNA school. I am blessed to work with great nurses, docs, surgeons, CRNA's, rt's, and directors that have been and continue to back me which is ridiculously helpful. So If I can return the favor feel free to ask. The road seems long but you gotta do something because time passes by regardless (as a friend of mine who is starting his CRNA clinicals says "short time for a lifetime!" And that has been my adopted creedo for this adventure. Sorry, that ended up being longer than I planned. Zack
