New-Grads
I did have experience as a nurse at an ECF. I started there as a CNA once I got my license they moved me into a nursing position (end of June) I just resigned from that position last week. Yes it is very minimal experience, but very valuable experience. Sorry for the confusion.

New-Grads
I graduated in May 2015 and was employed at an ECF at that time as a CNA. I received my license in July 2015 and was then moved into an RN position at that same facility.

New-Grads
I am a new grad getting ready to enter into the field of critical care. I am actually comfortable with the idea of this position. I had excellent experiences in critical care through my nursing program. I have been going through the general orientation process for the hospital the last couple of days. Honestly my only real concern is having to deal with my abusive ex-husband (he is an EMT within the same hospital). I just thought there might be a need for a forum for new grads entering new positions. My very first job as a nurse was at an extended care facility. It gave me respect for nursing home nurses and allowed me to develop the time management skills needed for any nurse. Learning to manage 12-14 patients on my own is something I will always appreciate. My advice is to never turn down a job because you don't believe it is "important enough". I never had any interest in long-term care, however at the time of graduation that was the only thing I could find in my area. I will always appreciate the opportunity that facility gave me and what that job taught me about being a nurse.

Indiana Licensure Question
Thank you! That answers my question. I have been all over that website, except of course the Minutes and Agendas. I will be reading that next!.

Indiana Licensure Question
I read the handbook given to me, but it does not specify what penalties employees face in these situations. It refers students to their school for disciplinary actions. I need this for a homework assignment. But thank you I will look through the administrative code for Indiana for my answer. I need to know what happens to people after they are licensed. This is a homework assignment. I am fortunate and had scary parents that kept me out of trouble :)

Indiana Licensure Question
I have searched and searched the Indiana State Licensure's website and cannot find this information, at least I cannot find it written in english.... I am working on a homework assignment for my final semester of nursing school. I need to know if there is an impact on an Indiana Nursing license for criminal charges involving drugs or alcohol? I found the ISNAP program and read about it, and self reporting, but it does not really explain the penalties faced, especially if there are criminal charges. I also need to know Norton's policy concerning drugs and alcohol (my clinicals are at a Norton facility).... but I can ask my preceptor if needed, this part of my question is a long shot. Thanks in advance!

Job Search
I have not started networking directly. I am a board member of both my local chapter of the Student Nurse Association and the state board of directors or Indiana Association of Nursing Students. I was hoping to make some major connections during my capstone clinical next semester. I have several friends working in the hospital where I would like to work. I also have one medical resident as a reference at the same hospital. Thank you both for the advice!

Job Search
I can finally see the light at the end of a very long tunnel. I graduate on May 11th from one of the best BSN programs in my area. I have been wondering when to begin my job search. When should I start applying for jobs that have been posted? I plan on taking the NCLEX ASAP after graduation.
