I don't have much advice, as I am still a student. But congrats! That's a great thing to happen to you, and I wish you a lot of luck. Working as a NICU nurse is also my dream job, so once you start the job I would appreciate if you could write posts about/PM me about your experiences. I want to learn all there is about the job so I can get a better feel for things I need to learn. Again, good luck and congratulations!

If you don't think you will be getting in because of a low high school GPA, then you could always do your prereqs at a community college, you would have to do really well and get an almost 4.0 GPA, and then transfer to your dream school once you're done with prereqs. A lot of people do this, and it's also one of the cheapest options. If you don't want to do this, then you can always lower your standards a bit and try to apply to more schools. I know this may not have been your original plan, but life almost never goes the way you plan/expect. Good luck, and I hope you figure something out!

Congrats! I want to become a nurse, and I was just wondering if you could share some of your nursing school experiences. Every time I tell people I want to go into nursing, they talk about how much work it is, and that school will have to be my whole life. They talk about it dauntingly. I feel like I am ready and willing to accept all that comes with nursing school - the good and the bad. What is your overall nursing school experience?

I'm currently in high school, but I am planning on becoming a nurse and then becoming a nurse practitioner (neonatal). I want to get as much experience as I can about nursing and the medical field in general. So I decided that I was going to do a summer volunteer program at a local women and infant hospital. I was just wondering if any of you nurses have had any past experiences as a volunteer? Do you have any idea what kind of tasks I will do as a volunteer? Or if you interact with any volunteers where you work now. Any tips on what I could do to be a good volunteer (or not be annoying by asking lots of questions) would be very helpful! Thank you!!

How did you get a job in a level IV NICU right out of college? That's amazing, congrats! What nursing school did you go to? I'm looking at different nursing schools for myself, and I was wondering if you go to a more prestigious nursing school are you more likely to get hired quickly? And also, maybe the reason why "everything is going right" for you is because you're an amazing nurse!

Plenty of times. The response that I am looking for is advice. Is there anything I can do to prepare myself for nursing school/NICU nursing? What is working in a NICU like? Also just a disclaimer: All I do is research about becoming a NICU nurse and working in that environment. I do not want to be a NICU nurse because I "love babies".
