  1. I am placed in a renal/urology office for my 240 hours for my C.M.A externship. I searched the MA boards to see if anyone had anything to offer on what they do but there was nothing. What should I expect? The office manager told me for the first 4-5 days I would be doing front office than for the rest of my hours I would be doing back office. They have a lab on site and I know I will be doing urinalysis, phlebotomy, taking patient history, vitals, but is there anything else I can expect that is specific in these areas?
  2. My med term class was great. We watched a video series called Dean Vaun and it broke everything down into something silly. For example: GASTRO sounds like gas truck : GASTRO means stomach so if you picture a gas truck with a stomach than you remember that GASTRO means stomach. That is just how I learned and how I remember things not just med terms but everything in MA school.
  3. I am currently in CMA school about to start my externship. CMA certification is nationally recognized meaning any state you move to will accept you as certified. RMA is registered only in the state that you currently live. As for hiring one over the other as long as it is in your state I doubt it. But I don't know it might depend on the hospital or doctor you work for.
