Yes, gotta have it before clinicals for sure. It took 10 days to get mine but that was through the Christmas holiday so that's probably longer than normal.

Did you get your books on Craigslist? I looked but I could only find a few. I'm thinking about just renting the more expensive ones from Amazon & just pray I can get the city's program to pay for them this summer.

What about books & tuition? I heard they give gas cards too but I guess it depends on their available funds.

I looked on Craigslist but only found a few books . Don't laugh but I'm a lil ocd about used books. The germ factor grosses me out because they can't ever be sanitized. Don't get me wrong, I can handle a patient's poop, pee, boogers, etc. As long as it's not in my home lol.

I found a good study app for Android called NCLEX PN Mastery. You should try it since you can't get to your a&p stuff.

There is a short list on the website, it says "Students will be required to purchase nursing tools†such as stethoscope, bandage scissors, pen light, etc."

I was told they basically accept everyone who passes the entrance exam but I don't know if she was just being a hater or not. She was going straight for the ADN @sac & told me lvn would be a waste of my time. I asked the girl at the office when I turned in my app & she said it's anywhere from 150-200 that are accepted but idk how many applicants there are.

Thank God it isn't all day every day. I'm sure during the summer or maybe closer to the end it will be a full schedule. I sent Peggy an email about dropping growth development but haven't heard back yet. I could drop myself online but I'm scared lol

I got a blue card in the mail from the board of nursing saying my background was clear. The card you're thinking of is the fingerprint card for those who want to mail it in instead of doing it electronically.

E. Have you gotten your blue card from the board yet? I thought they were registering us when they get our cleared background check.

Next Semester Layout
If you plan on getting your BSN you will need that algebra. Most hospitals are going to be phasing out adn RNs so instead of picking any class to fill the gap try to find classes that would transfer for a BSN. This is coming from someone who has 72 hrs & 3.5gpa, if you don't have kids or can make school the #1 priority then go for the ap, eng, stat, hist or ethics. Chemistry is very math intensive & if you've failed algebra you might not wanna take that with ap&statistics. Eng is very writing intensive & takes up a lot of time, like 6pg essays & lots of reading. If you devote your time like a 9-5 job then I think you'll be fine

It sounds like you may have clicked nurse licensure on accident because it thinks you're applying for your license. That's why it's saying they have no record for you. The board isn't supposed to have a record for you yet, not until after you do your fingerprints. Your info is only with the school. I wouldn't wait for the packet. Call the customer service # on the fast pass & tell them you made a mistake so they can help you.

I priced the books on amazon & it came out to $1092 for all new books including nutrition course books. I'm gonna try Craigslist too but I thought I would let yall know before you buy at l&m or St. Philip's.

Really? Are they the most recent editions? I've never used Craigslist cuz of all the crazy stories about shady people who rob the people they're supposed to be selling to. Are the books mailed to you or you meet someone & pick them up?

Yeah you probably did something wrong. I didn't have to register with the board or send anything in. I almost messed up when you're supposed to select "all others" I think I saw nurse licensing or something & almost chose that. The board will automatically receive your info. After I registered there was a fast pass that came up online. I printed that one & the one we received from Peggy. I took both with me & I was told that one is for school, the other is for the board. My fingerprints & background were sent to both. I got the blue card from the board 10days later. It says "Dear Prospective Nursing Student: The Texas Board of Nursing is in receipt of your Texas Department of Public Safety/FBI Criminal Background Check. Your file is clear. Thank you for your time and cooperation with the Texas Board of Nursing."

$2000! Wow that's tuition for 1 semester. That's why I'm glad I got most of those recommended courses finished, I just have nutrition left. I've always found Amazon to be cheaper than the bookstores here in town. I have an Amazon student account & get free 2 day shipping on everything. I'll probably order mine after orientation so I know what's needed for sure. Good luck with PQ, I'm sure you'll get in otherwise I don't think they'd be interviewing you.
