  1. I believe they wait until the spring semester is over so they know how many spots before they make selections.
  2. Not crazy at all! I will be 42 when I start my ASN program this fall. I think the LPN program is a great idea. You can always continue your education in the future.
  3. I found the group by typing bccnursing15 in the search
  4. Congrats Amanda! Is BCC your first choice? Traditional or eHealth?
  5. I would love to network on Facebook. Please post the name of the BCC group you create and I will spread the word to a few others that also were accepted. This is so exciting, I can't wait to meet everyone.
  6. Congrats Fabz07 and xhsx!!! I am also traditional. I am keeping my fingers crossed for you kylebrian97.
  7. Congrats Southshore2014!!!! That is awesome.
  8. If you go to accessbcc and select student services tab then display an unofficial transcript. Both my DegreeWorks and Unofficial transcript have changed but student information has not changed.
  9. OMG! My major has been changed to Nursing!!!!! I am listed as traditional and my friend just checked and she is eHealth. I am going to stock teh mailman tomorrow and Monday until I get that official letter.
  10. Was her major changed today?
  11. I look at it the same as checking your email. We are just checking for a new message (or change in major), which is completely normal.
  12. Yes I log into degree works everyday when I am logging into my eLearning class.
  13. I was relieved too when she told me and glad you are all taking it the same way. I was hoping it was going to be received as good news and help calm nerves.
  14. I feel the same way xhsx. One of my classmates received a rejection letter at the beginning of February so we made it past the first cut.
  15. What age did you decide to go into nursing? 40 When did you graduate? Just completed the pre-reqs for a RN program. Application submitted this past January and just waiting to find out if accepted. AND... what field were you in prior to that?? For the past 14 years I have worked in the Computer Networking field. Prior to that I was a Medic in the US Army. So at 25 you are not even close to being too old. At 40 I decided to change careers to do something I am passionate about. I will even be taking a pay cut with this change, but I would rather do something I love for the next 25+ years. I should have completed nursing school when I got out of the Army 14 years ago, but it wasn't the right time for me. I have no regrets because I believe the path I took to get where I am today was right for me. You need to do what works for you.
  16. kylebrian97, Welcome to the group. I am sure you are a wealth of knowledge on the application process so please share anything helpful. The waiting is excruciating and it must be worse the second time. I am sure you will be at the top of the list since you were already accepted.
  17. Thanks Sheryl18 for the encouragement!
  18. I submitted my application end of November and made appointment with admissions in December to have them review to make sure it was complete. Southshore, I think in access bcc you can either look at student info or unofficial transcript to see if your major changes. It is changed the day they mail the letters so it is early notice.
  19. My degree works updates every day.
  20. Thanks xhsx! I just wish they would give a clear answer on how they rate the applicants. I have asked several people at BCC admissions and they just respond by saying we look at both GPA and points together. The other schools in the area have a very clear points system so you know exactly where you stand. I just have my heart set on BCC.
  21. That is discouraging. My cumulative GPA is under 3.5, but my GPA since I started at BCC in 2013 is 4.0 with 32 credits. Looks like I need to start thinking about plan B. I can not change my GPA from 20 years ago, the only thing I can do is continue to take more classes to raise it but that could take years. I have worked really hard working full time and taking classes to maintained a 4.0. I also scored a 91 on the TEAS but if your advisor is correct on how they decide then I will not be going to BCC. Sorry for the rant but I am about to cry now.
  22. The 600 includes incomplete applications of those who did not complete the minimum requirements. They did not give the numbers of the qualified applicants which I am assuming is much lower. I too am nervous since my cumulative GPA is not great, but I have an A in all the pre-req courses which is part of the point system. I have not received a clear answer on how they rank applicants. Do they put more weight on GPA or points? I know the TEAS score is just recorded as a pass/fail so my high score on the TEAS does not help me in any way...ughhhh
  23. Yes, approximately 74 for traditional day program and 24 for the eHealth program. I believe during the info session they mentioned they receive about 600 applications each year.
  24. I decided to reread last years thread and when they called admission or the nursing department they were also told late April or early May so I think that is a standard response. No point in calling because they don't give out any helpful information. On a good note last year they found out by checking their unofficial transcript or degree works to see if their major changed to nursing. This changed happened on 3/11 and they received the letter in the mail 3/13 or 3/14. I just need to stay positive and not become obsessed with checking my BCC account.
  25. Yes the application deadline last year was February 5th and they found out mid-March. I was hoping for earlier but I can accept mid-March. April is ridiculous.
