  1. I just applied. I will let you guys know how long it takes when all is said and done!
  2. I called Nursys and they said the verification is good as long as it is open. The receiving state has to close it. So it is good for more than 90 days as long as California has not closed the verification. And if they have you can call Nursys and they will reopen it free of charge. Nursys phone number is (866) 819-1700
  3. Well, good luck with your decision. I hope a comparable job becomes available that pays what you make now.
  4. That would be quite a significant pay cut. For me, that would be a very hard choice. However if floor nursing will ultimately render you disabled otherwise then it might be worth it. I think all work environments are different. I have my own office but keep the door open between calls to chat with the other nurses. I wear casual clothes when working nights and evenings. It's just us nurses - no management or administration so we like to get comfy. Personally, I absolutely LOVE my job. Patients appreciate the comfort and advice you give. Sometimes I work 56 hours a week. I don't feel my job is stressful so I have no problem coming in for extra hours. I feel like Telephone Triage, in the right circumstances, can be a sanctuary for the weary and burnt out nurse. You might really enjoy it. That being said, why such a large pay cut? Would you moving to another area for the job?
  5. Holy Moly! That is unbelievable!
  6. You must mean $70,000 a year not $70 dollars an hour?
  7. Hi All, Just wondering what the hourly pay is for an advice or triage nurse in the Bay Area. I may be moving back to San Jose in the near future. I am currently the lead Advice RN for a Nurse Line in another state. I have 2 years RN experience, 1 year in telephone triage. Thanks!
  8. I am wondering about this as well. I verified with Nursys more than 90 days ago however when I attempt to reverify it says a verification has already been sent to CA. Is the verification really only good for 90 days?
  9. Hi HopeRules, Thank you for your vote of confidence! I have my application all ready to go. Just waiting for the DOJ to send me a copy of my RAP sheet and then I will send it out. I am hopeful! THANK YOU!
  10. Get it expunged before you apply if that is possible. And let us know how it turns out!
  11. Hi Aemrick, I am so sorry the expungement did not help :-( What state did you finally get your license in? They passed a law in California that took effect January 2015 that prohibits the BRN from denying licenses based only on an expunged conviction. Also, when a BAC is over 0.15 there are increased penalties and the charge is more severe in the eyes of the court and the BRN. I blew under that. I hope this is helpful to someone. I will be sure to keep you all updated as things progress. It may take awhile!
  12. Hey! I don't have any news just yet. I sent out a request for my RAP sheet to the DOJ and FBI. I want to see what is on there first and ensure the DUI was expunged before I take the chance of submitting my application. I will definitely let you all know what the ultimate outcome was. I would second refraining from taking too much advice from this board. I have also been given poor advice from attorneys - I was told that I could not get my DUI expunged. Well, I didn't even need an attorney to do that! And you never know what the whole story is with the people posting to allnurses. You may think your case is hopeless because someone posted a story similar to yours and was denied however, you don't know the circumstances behind it. They might not be telling the whole truth. I am generally wary of people who don't take full responsibility for their actions (i.e. blaming the board when it was their choice to drive drunk or steal or assault someone). I have worked as a nurse for over 4 years now and have seen a lot. Drunk driving is a violent crime and we have all put innocent lives at risk for doing it. People who blame others for the consequences of their behavior show a certain moral illiteracy. I will be sure to give you guys updates as things progress.
  13. Was your application marked as received in October?
  14. Hi 3rdeyeRN, Our stories are similar. I'd love to have the chance to pick your brain! I had a DUI 9 years ago and just got it expunged. My BAC was .11. I have been an RN in another state for 2 years now. I have a letter of reference from my PCP (who also is a beneficiary of my work) stating that I take no medications and have no s/s of drug or alcohol abuse. Also, a letter from the volunteer coordinator at a school where I mentor at risk teens on going into nursing. I was hoping AB 2396 would help me but that doesn't look like the case. If you get the chance, could you message me? I'd love to talk with you about your experience.
  15. This is a bill that limits boards that operate under the department of consumer affairs (i.e. CA BON) from using an expunged record against you when applying for for licensure. This had been made part of California Law. Anyone have any experience applying for licensure or endorsement with an expunged misdemeanor since the implentation of this bill? I have everything all set and will be sending out my application next week. Fingers crossed.
